Hi.

I have my bro's computer here.

He recently installed a new dvd-burner. But after he installed it, the 2nd harddrive went nuts.

When entering the hd, it gves the message that the hd needs 2 be formated.

I've searched on some technical forums. And i came to the conclusion that the mbr or summat is fucked.

Chckdsk /f didnt help.
entering windows repair and giving the option fixmbr didnt work either.

Does any1 have another solution?

Because my brother would like 2 have his personal and private and important stuff back.

Cheers Smile

Try to connect thi HDD to your computer and use some recovery tools like File Scavenger to recover files and then format the HDD.

Did he move the jumpers when he put in the burner?
Maybe there's a conflict there?

If not, then all you have to do is use GetDataBack for NTFS / FAT and copy whatever important there is, and then format / repartition the disc..

I hate you.

And maybe the old one used to stay as a slave, and the hdd as a master, and now both are masters, and that may be the problem...
