I managed to compress it to 1 disc using dvdshrink at 70% compression, still looks good.

Yeah you can shrink it to 90% and watch it on Nokia phone in your car, I have one freak in my company, he is happy like crazy with his Nokia movie theatre, man 2 disc is absolutely minimum if you don't want to disparage yourself,
1 disk is less evil than any theater screener but its not good. You don't need DVD if you got 2 or 3 disks versions.
If you are pirate dealer you can have interest to collect 1 disk versions, if you are collector and movie enthusiastic with sharp eye and innerself artistic soul, you will have 3 or 4 disk versions of your best movies. Groups are discourage because they fear of nuking if someone decide that their release is oversized.

OK LOL funny answer, if you like to burn movies to CD.
If you watch materials from hdd or dvd and if you name movies like xxxcd1 and second part like xxxcd2, most players on the market should change automatically to second disk or third and so...
M8y step to evil side of picture and sound quality, we are here just a few steps more, banish all 1CD versions
