I used virtualDub to join 2 halves of a 2 hour movie (it came as two xvid AVIs)
(Direct stream, no recompression)
the joined avis play fine as one big avi, no problems whatsoever, perfect join
then i tried to encode it to DVD using AVI2DVD, and the encoder goes through all the 180000 or so frames, but then the VIDEO_TS ends up only holding a gig and a half of vts files and when i play it (either the vts or the actual dvd on a player) it ONLY plays the FIRST HALF and ONLY the exact contents of that original first AVI from the beginning.. even though i used the new joined file as a source for the dvd
I remember there used to be a problem with joining 2 .avis with different bitrates (even though they are the same movie, they can be encoded in a slightly different bitrate).
You can join them in VD and save as uncompressed if it fits into your HDD, or try using VFAPI codec.
