so, which NFS game was the best and _WHY_?
to me it was nfs3 hot pursuit, because it impressed me the most at that year.. cops and stuff - fuck it was a good game Sad

the more time moves on, the shittier nfs gets.. yees, Most Wanted is better than Underground series tho Wink

edit: Added Motor City as well, because some US fellas may have tried it in 2001 and they liked it most Rolling Eyes

NFS 4. Good police, good tracks, good cars. None of this street racing crap. NFS 4 was basically the same as NFS 4, I just never bought 3. IISE was great also.

Also why didn't you vote in your own thread?

NFS 3 Hot Pursuit for me. Multiplayer games with cops vs racers was great fun back in the day. Bit annoyed that they haven't added that mode to NFSMW.

Porsche Unleashed gets my vote. If compared to the other NFS titles it handled very nicely. Also the whole single player 'story' as a car tester was something fairly different and interesting.

NFS 1 should get a honorable mention as it did make quite an impression on me back when it was released. I still got couple of tracks etched into my memory.

:runs of too look for nfs1 cd:

Need For Speed 2 Special Edition gets my vote..

I still remember playing it for months (first few hours at home, then at school and than again when i got home).. Aah, those were the days Smile

If there was a 2nd place, I would definatelly vote for Porsche (coz of the realistic elements and the fact that I just love Porsche)

On 3rd place... NFS Hot Pursuit 2.. I finished that one with help from my roomate in one night Really fun game with cool cars and police..

Porsche Unleashed - best cars, classy environment/tracks and an awesome soundtrack with no rap bullshit.
Also, you had great improving options (the ride's height for example) and other technicalities without having to buy nitro and turbo for every car!

My vote is PU, excellent single player via evolution mode.

I missed the cops sure, but going through the porsche history was awesome.

Still remember my Porsche spider.

Porsche Unleashed gets my vote. It was the perfect blend between arcade and simulation and as exon pointed out the tuning-settings were really good.

However my best memories is with Need For Speed 1, i remember driving the red Ferrari on those mountainroads, man that was a sweet game Smile

Porsche Unleashed for me. Thanks to that game I can identify any model and year of porsche on the street. Makes me look like a car afficionado in front of my friends.

Also it handled great, and I loved the test tracks, even though some of them were hard. Had the best damage models, too.

I remember downloading the NFS1 demo when it first came out off of happypuppy.com on my Dad's old computer. I must have driven that blue viper on the coastal track over a hundred times. Then finally playing the full version on the PS1. I loved that bonus car, so fast, my friend and I would play head to head and see how cool of a crash we could get in a head on collision at full speed with those things.

Anyway, Porsche Unleashed for me.
I can't believe Most Wanted has the biggest score. I haven't played it yet (still downloading) but from the demo, it is far from the best. Just my opinion.

The original NFS 3: Hot Pursuit still reigns King in my book.
Nothing has come close to the exhilleration I experienced during those cop chases all those years ago. Maybe it was because I was much younger, or maybe its just a massive sense of nostalgia, but I can still remember how fuggin great that game was.

Sure, now you have a bit more advanced A.I., and a slick graphical engine, but you also have shitty music (apart from the two chase tracks), and the whole "street racing scene" bullshit. It doesn't fly with me.

Next NFS needs to be completly, 100% centered around law enforcement evasion/harrassment, and the bullshit plot should be replaced with a crime/getaway type drama (globe hopping in exotic foreign cars purchased from earnings as a getaway driver for X illegal orginization). But no, that won't be cool enough. It shall repel all the mainstream fuckin idiots and thus result in a loss in sales. Ergo, E.A. won't even consider that one Razz

*sigh* One can hope, right?

i mean, every nfs has a story and was great!
need for speed I - first game in this series -> great
need for speed II SE - 3dfx optimised grafics -> great
need for speed III - cops, hell yeah! -> great
need for speed IV - nice grafics, nice cars, option to tune the car
need for speed V - nice 'story', nice handling
[...]
need for speed MW - story like the fast and the furious and nice cars ( porsche, mercedes, lambo etc. )

I have to say that NFS2SE was brilliant for his time and gets my vote. When u played split screen with your friends for hours and learned every corner to perfection in those 8-9+ tracks u got a satisfaction like none other racing game gave u(except Grand Prix 2 maybe). Also PU was a nice arcade/sim game, with lots of cars and differnet handlings for all. It was(and still is) the only NFS game to have 4 points of suspension. The last one in the series, MW, has 2 points and it acts like a boat.
But i'm having fun with NFS MW also, it's a good game, although when u have 70+ tracks to beat, u don't have the same feeling of completion like the previous ones. It feels like "ok i beat this one, whos next?", and it's allright for a bit of fun, but not to become a fan of.

So true and you saved me a long post Smile

And i agree with ur idea bout the next NFS...the storyline in this one is kinda ridiculous. I understand what they were going for, but still.
None the less tho, NFSMW is fuckin awesome, best NFS since HP3

Porsche Unleashed gets my vote. Looking back, I find it very hard to believe that the same developers did Underground 1 & 2 and now MW. It had real damage, car physics , real performance tuning, great tracks, great music and a general european feel. None of that making U-turns at 1000mph , bling-bling style of the last games.

This list is missing the first Need For Speed and the first NFS 2...both of which were quite different from their Special Edition counterparts that were more expansions than anything.

My vote went for NFS2 SE but it was hard to choose, My first racing game on PC was NFS2 and i can't even start counting the hours i played with my brother in split screen mode. I missed that in the later nfs games.

NFS3 amazed me with its graphics when it came out, the cars were so shiny Very Happy

And porsche challenge was good too, factory driver was fun but pretty hard, never got to the end of it.

Tried the demo of NFS:MW, horrible handling, not even downloading it...
