Lately I have been having an issue loading games that play from the hard drive. The latest example is Shadow the Hedgehog (Shadow.The.Hedgehog.XBOX-WAM), in which all the files transfer with no errors, but when loading up, the load screen just hangs. This is true as well with Conflict Global Terror and Advant Rising.

I wait for HDD patches and look for similiar issues with other gamers on these releases, but can't find anything. Perhaps there is a trick or 2 I need to know? Any help would be great!

Is your Hdd full? I know that Qwix will continue to transfer files even though the HDD is full, leading you to believe that it was successful. When it wasnt. It will hang on loading screen.

no, the HDD has plenty of room left. I use Flash FXP, so when the drive is full, I'm notified that files failed to transfer. This is not the case with the above mentioned games.

Have you been able to load these 3 games w/no problems?

Maybe you didn't select "hidden" files? Use QwiX to load games up to ur xbox, it might help with that

get it here =>

Delete E:/Cache/ and reboot.

I deleted the cache, that didn't help on the above mentioned games.

When you say select 'hidden files', is that something you normally have to do? I downloaded Qwix and will give it a shot.

ok I extrated the ISO from the rars, FTP'd using Qwix, all the files seemed to transfer over with no problem.

started up the dash, went to games and saw Need for Speed Most wanted on the list.

Selected it, and it still just hangs on the loading screen.

I did the exact same for America's Army with the same poor results.

Any other ideas?

I get the same with Jade Empire - copied over with Qwix ok & it didn't work - just hangs from EvoX dash. Tried again with autopatch xbe ticked - didn't work just hangs.

Then edited the INI files in the ISO to point to F:\Games\etc - didn't work although it didn't hang this time just saw the HDD LED flashing away like it was tring to read the game data. Maybe we have to edit the game's XBE file as well?

Maybe you can try to extract the game with a different program like craxtion or mooGUI?

craxtion 4 is a buggy POS & mooGUI needs avalaunch to be running on the xbox - this freezzes on mine (!)
I have read forums where people just use flashfxp, ipswitch wsftp pro to upload game files to xbox - have you any suggestions/details on how to get xbox titiles running from the HDD ?
Ahh f**k it - trying pxhddloader now Smile

Woot! this does the trick ! Just realised that I had enabled a CoD trainer - this probably screwed Jade Empire (durgh)
Anyhow try again with Qwix - no passive ftp & autopatch media id ticked

Got several titles running now on hdd using qwix, dvd2xbox & pxhddloader - only title not running (though it loads ok) is half life 2 - guess the devs put in extra protection Sad No long filenames reported with dvd2xbox, cleared cache.
Qwix says to run avalaunch dash to get ftp boost mode - though running x3 bios or evolutionx you get like 10MB/sec anyway.

Game trainers stay "resident" even if you power off the console - probably stored in "cmos" type memory (used to defeat Legion boss in CoD ;-P).
When you look in a loader xbe like default.xbe you see paths in there pointing to d:\. Editing these is a nightmare - I guess when you load a HDD game a "subst" type command is used to mount the game dir to d:\

Also try out XBEPatcher_03 - patches the game's xbe file to allow shorter filenames
Try setting your dash to ntsc video mode - works for jade empire

check out - http://evox.consolehackz.com/ & the tutorial section - shows you how to use qwix & load games on your hdd. Quite useful - looks like newer mod bioses like x3, etc don't need that autopatch media id option ticked in qwix

First off - Im running EvoX M8 on an xecuter 2.x plus lite solderless chip. Not sure if any of that is relevant at this point.

I tried Need for Speed once more, and had no luck. This time I checked the autopatch option and FTP'd from QwiX.

Started the box up and same exact thing - hangs on screen.

I don't think its an issue w/long file names as when I originally FTP'd using FlashFXP, I recieved no errors stating that some files couldnt transfer...everything moved over fine.

More ideas?

I'm sure the other games I mentioned - advent rising, Americas Army, etc...are all under the same issue.

Irritating! did you set ntsc video mode on your EvoX dashboard?
Will try out Shadow.The.Hedgehog.XBOX-WAM to see if it flops Smile

another thing - ftp with qwix & x3 bios gives me 10MB/s while with EvoX dashboard I get 2.5MB/s Smile

I did set the Box to NTSC and nothing.

FTPing with QwiX is much faster than FlashFXP!

hee hee got it working:
just qwix it to your xbox - no need to autopatch media id (if you're on a new bios)
in x3 bios go to system settings & change video to: NTSCU enabled & video mode to : all disabled bar widescreen (not sure if this is needed)
then in EvoX dash go to system settings & check video standard is NTSC & change game region to: rest of world (PAL)
Shadow.The.Hedgehog.XBOX-WAM loads up fine from hdd & can start missions

I think some games need some messing about with theese video modes & game regions to get them past the loading screen - try the various combinations with your other problem titles (no need to clear cache Smile )
will try - Americas_Army_Rise_Of_A_Soldier_USA_XBOX-SPARE next - works fine with above settings

try - Be sure to turn OFF In Game Reset
if you have trainers under EvoX then go thru them & ensure they're all OFF = else they'll blow up your games ;-P
if you install the - Grey Tigers Evox Trainer Pack v 7 11-12-05 - you have like a 100 or so trainers to trawl thru - is there a w ay to reset *all* trainers in 1 go?
