Stubbs The Zombie In Rebel Without a Pulse

  • Official web page: LINK
  • Publisher: Aspyr
  • Developer: Wideload
  • Media type and size: CD, 3 CD's (NFO sucks, and gives no info like a NFO should)
  • Genre: Sci-Fi Action Adventure
  • Release date: Nov 21, 2005
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

In this game, players take on the role of the rebel himself Stubbs, a wisecracking Zombie who takes on an ultra-modern city of the future using nothing but his own carcass and the weapons of his possessed enemies. The game's tongue-in-cheek humor, innovative combat and strong storyline keep Stubbs the Zombie's gameplay as bizarre and unpredictable as its namesake.

On his quest, Stubbs lurches his way through numerous large and visually captivating indoor/outdoor environments in and around the gleaming city of Punchbowl, PA, a city built during the Eisenhower administration to show off the ultra-futuristic technology of the 21st century. Stubbs' brain-eating adventure brings him through bustling shopping districts and verdant farmlands to battle mad scientists, rural militiamen and the world's deadliest barbershop quartet. His enemies have shotguns, tanks, and all manner of futuristic weaponry. All Stubbs has is his own rotting corpse, a distinct lack of pain or conscience, and the ability to turn foes into zombie allies.

What begins as one zombie's search for revenge quickly escalates into an all-out war between the living and the dead - but this time it's the zombie fighting for truth, justice and the redemption of true love. Yes, it's a love story too.

There is a technical forum, please continue the discussion there!!

Anyone played the game and can give me a mini-review of it, please?

I'm still 'acquiring' the game, but I can give you a review of what I think it will be like.

You run around in a city in the 1950's as a zombie killing people and turning them into zombies with your special attacks like launching your hand like a rocket, etc..

It is the best game ever. (I hope)

Very cool related thing I found - http://main.halodev.org/modules/news/article.php?storyid=13

It will support stubbs. I seriously can't wait for that thing to be released so I can just make a massive map that is like the size of the entire city, so I can just run around killing people.

Ahh yes... Very Happy

Gameplay is freaking awesome. The game in total, I would give probally an 88%. The only reason it isnt in the 90% range is because it does seem like it could be a short game.

The thing that really makes this game great is the constant humor.

after couple of hours game getting repetitive;eat brains, posses blow guts, heads stupid mindless gameplay,i'd say d3 was better & it suffers console craps like no savegame only checkpoints in very unnesessary places, sometimes often sometimes very rare
poor engine perfomance considering not mind blowing gfx
but some of u may like it

I can see how some people would not like this game because of its lack of a real story line. If you are expecting a real plot, then don't download this. However, if all you want to do is just be a zombie and kills lots of people, or just want some good humor, then get this.

The games great. Mchart says it best, so I'm gonna just leave it at that.

Hehe that was great:
Contamination level is critical...

BTW:I was wondering, did anyone notice the resolution difference with the "ingame" movies, some of them, the resolution is way better in comparison to the real ingame resolution?

For the scene parts they reduce the 'old film effect', so the game looks slightly better. The old film effect while playing is nice at first, but it gets old fairly fast, I wish they would have allowed a way to turn it off on the PC version, as we don't really need performance enhancing effects.

I thought it was a bigger difference:the diff. between the ingame res and the movies res.(some of them) is like 2003 vs. 2005
