why not buy a pentium4 as processor? don't come with the excuse that centrino has a longer battery, because on most schools you can pluing in your ac adapter.
or put in some extra ram.
ofcourse, depends what you use if for school with.

I did have a nice shiny laptop, but I don't work for them anymore, so they took it back! *shakes fist* I got to keep my other toys, but I couldnt get away with sneaking that one out off the office on my last day ! Currently Im studying for a degree, with a side "job" coming up with AI controlled networking theories/game development.. today I invented an improved P2P system for use with ... well anything.. but mainly MMO's.. but back to the topic at hand !

well not really cheap, i paid around the same price for mine 2 months ago and it has 1 GB RAM and a geforce 6800.

most games run like shit on my laptop, i had to play fear at absolute minimum to get it lag-free.
it looks like medal of honour on psx though, so bleh
