You will need a valid XP key to update to SP2.
If you don't have one, you got couple of simple choices; buy legit license or steal one.
I cant think of many ways to get a valid key, heres a quick one.
Get a key-viewer type of an app that will let you read the key of the the OS installed on a given machine. Put it on a floppy and take it to your favorite computer store, where the putters are running for you to play with. Stick that floppy in there, run it, copy/paste into notepad, and your done.

That's hardly a solution, since when the time comes to install SP3 (whenever it comes out) you will have the same problem all over again.
btw. this thread belongs in "Operating Systems" section.

His question wasn't whether or not he could update to SP2. He wanted to know if he could update to MCE 2005 from his EXISTING install of SP2. So, yes you can, but IMO it's always better to do a clean install if you can. Glad you guys are enjoying MCE.

I am not sure if the crack is working for me either. The windows file protection never came up.

yeah...and the activation isn't gone after i reboot.....and after the reboot i can't do the crack anymore because the file is always runing and it can't be replaced nor change it name

Do it in safe mode. Worked like a charm for me, as far as I can see. The file protection message never came up, but for 2 days nothing has popped up about activation.

Hey guys, I have succesfully installed it and I beleive the crack workes(nothing has popped up about activation)
