With the PS2 arriving in the end of the course, I've been thinking of modding it to get a lot of free game. (No, it's not for backup disks, who the fuck are we kidding on a warez board ?)

Yet, I'm pretty bad with kniting (is that the right word ? ) Plus, I don't know wich chip to choose. Plus, I don't like spending money for warezing stuff. Wich is paradoxal, since I buyed about 20 60$ games. But when it about warezing stuff, I don't feel like paying a single $.

And I ran into Swap Magic.

It seems pretty interesting for me. But I'm not 100% sure about how it works. So could someone that actually use it explain me few things ?

1 / Why should I buy the shit, wich is basicaly 2 DVD ? Can't I just download swap magic and burn it anyway ? I'll find something to open the cd case by myself.
Wich would make it totaly free.

2 / Here's how I understand it works. Correct me if I'm wrong.
-I burn my games on a blank DVDR (no specific requierement on the DVDR used)
-I start my PS2 with the swap magic DVD inside.
-I use some trick to open the DVD case without sutting down the PS2
-I put the burned game in the case, shut it close
-I plays my games.

3 / I've read that compatibility is OK. ONE guy said on this forum that there was ONE game he couldn't run.
I will be able to play RE4 / soul calibur 3 / budokai tenkaichi / devil may cry 3 with this, tight ?
I'd like people who have had problem with swap magic compatibility to tell me. How many people ? How many games ? Tried latest ones ?

OK, I think it's about all I need to know.

Thanks for your help.

Yes all those games play, and everthing I have plays too with swap magic. A few games require you to use a loader with old versions of swap magic but 99% of games don't.

You cannot download swap magic. The first disc the PS2 reads has to be original.

If you want totally free and have the older large version of the PS2 and have a friend with or access to a modded PS2, you can have the 'cogswap' memory card exploit lodeded on to your mem card and can run games in the same way as swap magic. I done this for my nephew and he has no trouble playing anything. You will reqiure a PS1 original game to trigger the cogswap programme.

I looked up "gormless" in the dictionary, it said "without gorm" .... so i looked up "gorm" but it wasn't there ????

OK. Thanks for the info
Edit :
I can see a lot of swap magic iso files floating aroung.
Those are completely useless then ? Just made by clueless people ? Or is there some use I'm not aware of ? Or some trick to make it work ?

I think they can be fired up from ps2 hard drive programs or if you have an old version of swap magic and want to use the new you could possibly boot one up from an older original.

But there pretty much useless, and definately cannot be used on there own to boot PS2 games
