How about:

1.) Accept the fact that no-one here has a crystal ball that can predict the future.
2.) BUY THE FUCKING GAME if you're so desperate about it.
3.) Buy the game. Or...
4.) Shut up and buy the game.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

Hi,

I can play X3 without unplugging my IDE cables. Actually I can play all starforce games without unplugging anything. I will tell you exactly what I did, maybe it will work for others too.
1. I used starforce_clean to get rid of all starforce software on my computer. 2. I use SFN and diasble cd and ATA. 3. I mount the mds file with DT4. 4. I install X3 and after installation the computer reboots (if not there is still starforce software on your computer). 5. Play the game. BTW if you've installed other games on your computer i.e Stubbs the zombie, which use a new securom protection X3 doesn't work. First uninstall it.

Nforce based mobo ? If so thats the only cause you dont have to disconnect, Nforce IDE controller isnt standard and cant be adressed by current protections !

I gave you four options, if you wanted to choose the unfriendly ones, that's your decision. Wink

I have the same motherboard as you and it works with just DT4 and my drive cables unplugged. Also it works on SP1.

No sorry only Nforce3 or Nforce4, only on those unplugging isnt necessary, it works mounted in DT4 with Optical Ide's fully functional and you dont even need to disable them in BIOS or anything !

With my nForce4 board (A8N-SLI Deluxe) to play the other protections, I have to disable the IDE drives (2 burners) in the Device manager. That's with SafeDisc and Secruerom.

Well, that USED to happen. I just manually updated the drivers from the Device manager. Now, I don't need to disable the devices. Yay.

Has anyone been able to play this game in a laptop? If so, can you give more details on how you did it?

Each time I try it, it asks me to insert the dvd in another drive, even though the physical drive available is disabled (either through normal means or SFN).

I've got an Abit AN7 (nforce2) and i've never had to unplug any of my drives, everything works flawlessly with SFN
