Anyone know of any recent games (in the last year), that are similar to Ultima Ascention, ES III:Morrowind, and/or Gothic style gameplay??

Im currently in wanting a new game to play, but cant think of any good ones that were like those Three... Which IMO were classics!

Any suggestions?

I love those games aswell.. and as far as im aware there has been nothing like those in ages..

Oblivion and Gothic III are on the way .. apart from those.. why not play a bit of WOW? or Guildwars?

The pc and console markets are unfortunately flooded with FPS,sports and racing games for all the kiddies out there.. hopefully game writers will realise some of us have more than 3 brain cells and dont want to play endless clones of GTA and need for speed Crying or Very sad

the next morrowind is the only thing close to what you are describing, but who knows how much of an rpg is left in developing for a 'nexgen' console... i think theres another gothic in the works, tho never got into that series. also you might try some mods that have come out for morrowind, some are quite decent in fleshing that game out/adding some gameplay. oh, and a kings quest fan remake using a 3d engine that ive become excited with recently (www.kqix.com).

but anyways im waiting along with ya for another good title to come out...too bad the industry is so hyped over flash that so little games with any real amount of substance come out. just gotta look to the classics/mod community i guess...

Yeah, it's a shame the only games coming out which are like Gothic and Morrowind are the sequels. Gothic 3 looks just as awesome as Oblivion by the way.

Ive been anxiously awaiting those games myself.. I could go back and try to finish Morrowind... Its the only one of those three that I never finished because 1/3 thru it decided to crap out on me with some sound error.. Sad Never solved it either.. I just might see if I can get it going again..

Games like that don't come out very often. Most people prefer mindless FPS games so there's more money in that.

Yeah, but it's nowhere near the level of gothic. I mean, it's so linear. But at least a nice distraction.

I completly agree, we need more of these games, especially with a skill system who increase when you use the skill. Apart from the game you mentionned there is no really other single player game like that, the rest are mmorpg and most of they are the complete same thing and gameplay is really bad, repetitve and take too much time to increase some stats nobody give a fuck. As I always say the only one who differ is Ultima Online but it's becoming really really old..

Actually, I just looked into it and it doesnt look like there is an English version available? Big surprise considering how long it took to get Gothic2 after its original release...

*UPDATE* Nevermind.. I found it.. Way at the bottom of the Website I was veiwing was a link to amazon.com selling English copies of Gothic 2 Gold for around $17.
