Alright , i don't know where to start , anyway i don't know squat about Playstation , since i'm a dedicated PC gamer , but since games like RE4 and MGSolid 3 are that impossible to be released for PC , i thought about getting Slim PS2 and check out these games...but the embarrising part is that i played on both playstaions for like 5 times since both were released , so like i said i know nothing about the PS , all i'm asking for any of you tell me about :
1 - the new slim PS2 , it flaws ( the power cord problem , does it really melt or heat up ? ) , and how long can play on it without damaging the unit ? (cos i play on my PC for 8 hrs continuosly min)
2 - what is the difference between PAL and NTSC games/units/TVs ? i'm gonna buy a modded/chipped model , so does PAL games will play on NTSC and vice versa ?
3 - i read on gamefaqs.com boards that the 8MB memory cards corrupts your saves , is this true ? and if yes , what kind of other memory card do you recommend ?
4 - i downloaded the manual , (since i work in an eastern company , and i can't ask any one of my colleagues to buy me a unit from the states or Canada at the moment , and i can't use my credit card ) - do there countries really remove some components from the console ? modem , video unit ?!!!
5 - after reading the manual , it states that using some certain kind of cables affects the graphics quality of the games , is this is true ?
Please respond , cos i'm planning on buying it in like 10 days from now...many thanks for any replies.

So you waited less than 24 hours before attacking the very people you hope to have help you? Here's a clue: Read the boards some more, and not this one. This board is about GAMES, not hardware. Go back to the GameFAQs boards read them. Most of your questions are so basic that nobody can even believe you asked them.

Thanks man , thats all i wanted , someone to point me in the right direction , and my questions were less than 'basic' because like i said , i wasn't interested in consoles at all , not until some great games were released exclusivly on some of them....any way gamefaqs.com hardware forums cover the OLD PS2 not the newer slim model.... so please if you are kind enough to inform me about another site that specificly review the slim model...thanks again.

power cord problem been fixed ages ago, can play on unit for however long you want, its a console and designed for prolonged use

yes they will play fine, dependent on your TV capabilities, get a RGB scart lead, use RGB scart output on TV and pal or usa games or even jap games will play fine

some cheap brands may corrupt, never had any problem with offical sony mem cards

hardware wise - no,why would they

RGB scart lead is all you need, offical or unoffical brand makes no difference as long as its true RGB (best quality picture)
