actually i have a V8 and V10 machine marketed for korea but i will call them V7/V9 for any misunderstanding it might cause.

so i have a DMS4 pro chip in my posession and cant decide which ps2 it should go to. here is what i've gathered so far.

*V7 is louder and takes longer to load backups than V9 but it is stable with mod installed.

*V9 uses much sophisticated and sensitive lense than V7 (lense output is greater than ps2's), so to prevent the laser from burning, it requires a neo/romeo fix. but even if it is fixed, still will not be 100% safe.

i guess my questions come down to these:

1. how bad is V7's noise/loading of running backups compared to V9? is it bearable?

2. i hear some people still have their V9s working while others have replaced the lense, both neo/romeo fix installed. is yours or somebody-you-knows' V9 still working?

o yeah and my V9 is slightly used for about 7 month and V7 is brand-new.

any input would be appreciated and may happy x-mas and happy new year be with you.

probably the Newer machine V7... As soon as you start playing backups it kills the laser faster anyway... Plus it depends on the Discs you use.. Eg your V7 might only like Ritek G04 Dye Discs, where as your V9 might like anything eg Traxdata discs etc..

I've had a V7 with messiah since 2002 spring, it is loud yes but works like a champion. And truly only quality discs like Verbatim DVD-R (printables especially) work at 100% speed (like in GTA games you dont get any problems streaming data). Also DVD-RW discs work great.

Ritek G04 etc have always worked but slower than originals so some videos at the inner edge of the disc will stutter and a game like GTA will load textures too late. Interestingly the samsung drive in my xbox is exactly the same, ritek is slower than verbatim. So its not just a PS2 issue.

Verbatims cost 50 cents nowadays so there is no reason to use shitty discs.
