Im guessing there are a lot of people who still do not have a 360 but those that do or are considering getting one, if you had to, would you give up Xbox Live to use homebrew if you could only choose between the two? My answer would be yes.

No, not at the moment.

Maybe in time, but at the moment I have no problem paying for the games I want.

What i will prolly do is get a second system in a years time (as I did with my xbox) for modding, but keep one retail.

Thats kind of how I feel and I originally did the same thing as you did with your Xboxes i.e. chipped one and kept one retail.

The most appealing thing with online console gaming and Xbox Live is that its not plagued with cheats and exploits plus the arseholes that actually use them and think there getting something out of playing a game with these things activated i.e the PC online games scene (did PC Cod2 gamers not "strike" recently in part over cheating in the multiplayer aspect of CoD2?) yeah, that sounds great, so great that the gamers go on strike because of the amount of lamers out there cheating. Laughing

Thats one aspect of online console gaming that I truly appreciate, that and the sheer variety of games. Games that will never see the light of day on the PC so there will be no chance to play them online on the PC at all. Which makes playing them on a PC kind of hard unless you've got the leet PS2/Xbox/Xbox360 emulators 111111!11111!!!1!!!!!! Shocked

Im with you...you need to be fuckin retarded to pay expensive games like CoD 2 (86$ here) for a shitty 4 vs 4 when i paid 29$ less for PC and its like 20 vs 20 on some servers..and not to mention that on PC, you dont get kick out of the room when the round is done. Console gaming are for the ones who are too poor to buy a descent PC (in 85% of the time).

Xbox media center on the 360 is not even close on how cool the one on XBox is...360 Live is just a pile of shit

Yes , Because :

* Xbox 360 MP is not very impressive at the moment.
* Xbox Live cost's money (I like to play MP games/Demos for free thanks , So i'll stick to the PC).

I actually would not mind paying for Xbox live if it was worth the money , But the fact is most of the 'features' you can do on Xbox Live you can do on an old modded Xbox or a PC. Its not good value.

At least homebrew applications will be free. Razz

Completely agree , I Can't wait for homebrew for the 360 , It will offer so much more than MS could with their live service/media.

never played on xbox Live on my xbox, never will for xbox360, i have no online friends so don't need Live, console's should be for single playing games only, so many games these days don't include a decent single player mode yet try to get you to play online against a bunch of spotty, annoying kids, if i wanted to do that i'd use my PC, but i don't play games online as when i tried in the past you always get someone who ruins it for everyone else by being a dick!

I´m glad that they haven´t modded the 360 yet, it´s so much more fun buying 1-2 games per month and playing the hell out of them instead of having 20 games which i play like 5 minutes and then try another. Hope they never hack the 360 since i want to enjoy my games the fullest.

I don't give a shit about online gaming so it won't be a problem at all for me to sacrifice all the Live crap to play backups. I wouldn't use it anyway. Online gaming (usually with people you don't even know) is a totally pointless waste of time imo. Nothing beats a good single player game.

Yes, because:
- Games are fokin expensive
- Live is a pay-to-play feature (as someone else stated: "I would like to play MP for FREE, M$")
- I remember that crackers\hackers of the first xbox managed to create something similar to Live, only for the ones that have the mod-chip.

I dont understand what Elazul was saying.....
You dont want the xbox360 to be hacked because you think it's alot more fun to buy games? How will a chip affect this? Is someone forcing you to buy a chip when a chip is out?! Confused

Point is that a modded console like XBoX allows you to do much more than the original tied-down console.

When an official working modchip is released, there will probably be a major increase in 360 console sales and I think hacking the PS3 would be more difficult since its using a completely different media no one is familiar with.

Live is seriously overrated.
Most people dont care if they are part of some big community, they just want to play the game and beat others. And most people do not even care for online play. Imagen all those teens that get a console from their parents, and all those yunger kids, they dont care about some live thing. And the parents payed enough for the console and the games, they dont want to spend even more for something their kids might not even use that much.

I think you guys need to realise that the majority of people that buy consoles, are not people like us here. And even here the majority would ditch the live in favor for something else (poll), and that's really saying something about this whole live deal.

Yes I agree about the MMORG aspect to gaming - I much prefer an absorbing single-player or co-op experience. Nothing beats a great story like say the Might & Magic series from the PC . I've done mutli=player & after the usual fragging & capture the flag mayhem it does get boring as this gameplay has little substance. As for MMORG my brother & his girlfriend went seriously nuts with WoW & spent a lot of money with gaming sessions of 12 hours or more. Did all the quests & got bored with the player interaction Laughing Very Happy

I'm not willing to lose Live just to get free games.

This is the dumbest comment in this thread yet...you dont want the 360 to be hack cause you prefer paying 70$ +(depends of currency) for games you beat in less than 8 hours instead of getting them for free???? Rolling Eyes

Games who can get beat in less than 8 hours should be 40$ ..more than that its a complete ripoff. Games like F.E.A.R., took like 2 years in the making and beat it in 6 hours...that was a 60$ well spend Mad

Look at the prices of the games

and add 15% of taxes on that....so you really want to pay that much for games?? be my guess but all the rest of the 99.9% of us wont and 129.99$ for a 20GB HD when we can get a W/DIGITAL 250G 7200RPM 8M for 124.75....thats insane

Kommando: I don´t think games are that expensive if you consider the great amount of entertainment the 360 offers. Also, IF there was a Chip available i would almost be forced into buying it since all new games are going to get spoiled for me unless i download them. Nah, there are enough mods for Ps2 and the regular Xbox to keep me going like forever, we don´t need to desecrate the 360 also for that purpose.

What entertainment offers??

- Short games at expensive prices
- Crappy multiplayer where i can play with more poeple on the PSP with the kids on my street
- Buy/gain points to get games like killer instinct or smash TV that are already available on PC and XBox with emulators
- Buy theme that are already free on Xbox
- A cool game ID card you can put in your sig...how clever Rolling Eyes
- the "xbox media center" where you need to be hook up on a PC with a legit Wndows media center 2005 installed to get the full features
- Cant watch divx movies, porns, stream shoutcast radio station, browse internet with firefox

Theres nothing entertaining on the 360 that we cant get elsewhere...and way much better

the quickers it gets chipped the better for the simple reason that games are overpriced. If they was the same price as a normal dvd then maybe i might buy them. The reason i don't at the price they are is because normally the games are just rehashes or updates of previous games that i've already played and paid for. Why would i want to pay £50 or £37 for a updated roaster or some new tracks or fancy graphics just beacuse its year 2007 or something. Maybe this is why the 2nd hand market does so well, but for me i personal don't like that either as discs are scratched, ect,ect - but many people will buy 2nd hand rather than new.

Yeah, they're way too expensive for the content. £50 over here, when normally they're about £30. Unless it's some uber game I know will rock there is no way i'm spending that amount of money on something that will offer such limited entertainment.

Currently there are only two games out for the 360 I would really want to play, and thats Perfect Dark Zero, and Condemned. But they're definitely not worth it either. Maybe after the march influx of games we'll actuallly see something thats worth the price.

Isnt the reason for 360 games being so expensive due to Microsoft losing money on every 360 sold?

My friend in bought a brand new premium system in Japan for £150!
