Has anyone else noticed that there are almost no PC games of certain genres? I'm talking 3d platformers, Extreme sports games, Kart Racing etc games. The last good platformer was probably Psychonauts, as for extreme sports, other than tony hawk what do we have? The consoles have all these awsome games like amped2, mx unleashed, SXX series, and just look at the good ol' n64, every other game was a 3d platformer and even now they're popular on the consoles. Whenever a good platformer does show up nobody plays it. we don't need another freaking FPS and shitty WWII game. What do you guys think?

You´re right, but probably we are responsible for it... Cuz those genres sell real bad in PC.
It would be great if we had more of those but I wouldn´t buy it...

I know sales have alot to do with it, but ................... I probably shouldn't be talking about buying games on this website. Even then, the reason they don't sell is because there are none.

Would be so nice if they dropped that Matrix franchise since the games has been pure shit...

Sacrfice, MDK was/is one of the best games ever.

Yeah, shiny are such talented developers, all their games were wacky and fun. Then it seems it went downhill with the matrix games. I mean, they're not terrible games, just that shiny are capable of so much more.

I know everyone hates EA, but if they can due N4SUMW then why can they not do Burnout or SSX or the likes. PC games over the last few years have really gone downhill and now with the xbox360, ps3 and NR on horizon then things will only get worse. Costs of getting a high end graphics cards and the like to play only say 2/3 decent releases that are not available on console format is getting beyond a joke.

I Think it is also because games like extreme sports are for kids (6-12) and kids normally play on console and not a pc.. What about RPG'S?? they have been in short supply for ages Crying or Very sad

games today have to have awsome multiplayer to last on the market. I think it's one of the reasons why Blizzard had so much success in the past.

for those gener of games the multiplayer usualy wouldn't be all that interesting so the replayability are low, thats why I stay a way from them :S

I'm SO with you! Skydiving, think about it - you could have a awsome extreme sports game... yet, nobody has done it. I've waited a long time for such a game.
I would also like to see some cool surfing and diving games.

So instead of making endless skateboarding and snowboarding (SSX is awsome tho) games, they should make something new.

console games sell. PC games are far likely to be profitable if they have a significant online portion (thus requiring a legit key, a bought copy of the game).

Whereas console games are alot harder to pirate (well, hard enough to stop the majority of people doing it, especially with nintendo), so single player games are alot more feasible, as are niche games.

LOL -- Its the warez scene that is killing the PC games market, all know how to get games for free, so why bother even making it for the PC?

Agree though, bored shitless with FPS, shitty WWII games and the crap repetitive EA series of sports games..

Space sims rock! I've spend months with Homeworld... and some years later again! But it might just be that those games kick ass because they have to be good to be looked at. All fps games get attention...

Yeah i guess many developers lack the interest of making them or are affraid to take the risk and make a game which might not catch enough interest.
Don't think theres a huge market for these games compared to FPS's, RPG's and RTS games.
A well developed skydiving game would atleast catch my interest if it was made well, and not some sort of company like valuesoft taking the job making it.
I'd love it since i skydive myself but maybe it's not everyones interest in jumping out of a plane making formations etc.
Could be good online though Wink

I agree, RPG and Space sims were always my favorite genre, but unfortunately they are a dying breed, the only rpg nowadays for the pc are stupid mmorpg's and i dont play online. I loved all of the x-wing and tie fighter games from back in the day, and i got x3 to tide me over for now. All the rpg's mostly goto consoles now /me waits for a ps3/ Smile

I can barely stomach another fps or rts game

I'm not a bad influence, i say the world's already f***** i'm just adding to it.

If you see the psychonauts example that is a great game, the sales were just 51,000 copies on the Xbox, not quite 23,000 on the PlayStation 2, and a little more than 12,000 on the PC. So I don´t think is beacause there are none... Besides, IMO if there are few games of this genre the litle titles that come should sell better.
