Ok, thought I'd collect some ideas here. Tell me what weird, twisted, or even mind fucking, simply disturbing movies you know (and why).

Please don't include movies that are twisted because of their over the top violence, so no cannibal holocaust, guinea pig, Aftermath, Salo, men behind the sun or whatever else you got in hand thats just utter sick in brutality and thus disturbing...

Just twisted, mind fucking or disturbing, or something that makes you really think a lot Smile

I'll do a start:

Donnie darko - The Idea is rather twisted, and I've had plenty of discussions about the whole story, besides that a beautiful movie (the end...)

Pi - The whole point of the movie, leaves you thinking in the end. And greatly filmed, very philosophic

Fight Club - I never thought Hollywood could make such a movie

Seven - The whole atmosphere and that killer ending

Eraserhead - well yeah, I don't think there was ever more david Lynch than in this movie.

Requiem for a Dream - Very disturbing, and great filming

Oldboy - Kind of like an Asian fight club, even more confusing but fantastic soundtrack and plot twists and ending

Cube 2 - its not the best movie ever, but I loved the sterile atmosphere and the whole idea of it. The idea was great and it did make you think a bit for a short while

Theres it, I'm sure I know more but I can't recall them for now. Hope you got the point...!

Very Happy

Fight Club = over rated
Seven = over rated
Requeim for a dream = over rated

Worst movie of that list is donnie dork and best is pi but its nothing special imo.

i don't think you're talking about irreversible. she was raped in a tunnel going under a road, the scene lasts for 20min and the guy raped her in the ass.
The whole movie is filmed backwards, kind of like memento.
pretty disturbing shit, the rape scene is almost unbearable

Rolling Eyes disregard anything he mentions from this point forward because it really will be hit and miss.

How can you say miike films are all fucked up? Some of the stuff you said i.e. Mulholland drive, that's pretty dodgey but ALL of miike's films? geez :/

well all i've seen are fucked up. mind that fucked up is nothing bad at all.
i mean that they are usually all difficult to follow, don't have a linear storyline, contain strange/surreal scenes, crazy camerawork, etc... =mind fucking/disturbing IMO

The Land of College Prophets is very interesting movie. I recommend it. Good acting and frightening scenes... but youngsters shouldnt watch it because its quite violent and disturbing.
