I'm sad to say it, but it's looking like I'm reaching the end of my WoW days.

I hit lvl60 a few weeks back and since then have spent my time getting Lightforge Armor, playing the Battlegrounds and raiding MC. I'm BORED!

Grinding from 1-59 was a blast and I loved every minute, but I find I now spend most of my time faffing around while waiting in BG queues!!
As a Paladin, raiding is dull and at times irritating as you watch loot, which you can put to good use, get passed by you as your not on the Priority list. Add to the mix the DKP system, which does nothing but favour the people with far too much time on their hands and you have Raids that add up to nothing. As a casual player it's impossible for me to outbid someone.

With my life at the moment I have alot of time to play video games, but not always in one long chunk. I might have an hour here, and hour there. But not 3-5 hours in one stretch. WoW when you hit lvl60 doesn't cater for players like me. Battlegrounds take one hour to get into, then in the case of AV, can take 3-5 hours to finish. I usually log off long before I get into the Battleground.

So...that's what I stand atm. I have a lvl60 Paladin, lvl52 Rogue and 4 other low lvl characters which i can't bring myself to level. Having had a great time with WoW I think I'm finally starting to move on....but to what?

Anyone have any suggestions? I've got Guild Wars but it didn't grab me when I first tried it. I want a Pick up and Play MMORPG really. I can't commit to 3 hours for a instance run, it's not healthy and it's not always fun.

Guild Wars is nice. You don't have the lvl pressure there. I just play wow on freeservers with much higher max lvl etc.

Have you tried EQ2? I find that game much better when it comes to casual gamers. There's no PvP to ruin your little hunting trip and there's lot of solo content in the game. Sure, there are instances that take time, but you don't have to play them to have fun. If you only have like half an hour or so, you can always craft or do some short quests.

Cheers!

MC is boring, I understand where you are coming from. I swear if i do anymore MC runs ill go nuts. But BWL is so much different, its actually fun, especially right after Vael where you have to keep killing the whelps and move while doing it. If you are still bored you should take a long break from playing it and then come back to it later on.

Here is us today taking down Vael. BTW our loot system is different, it doesnt matter how much DKP you have, all the loot is passed out equally, for example I have around 70 DKP, and if a paladin got something before my turn will probably come up next. Its actually worked out pretty well for everyone. Also I understand how paladins get the shaft on loots, it sucks, either its more for warriors or its more for casters.

I used to play wow but had to stop as it was getting in the way of things (work, social life, sleep etc).

I just didn't have the time to spend a constant 5hours on one raid (like some of the other players had).
Waiting to get into a Battleground was no problem for me considering the Horde side was very PVP BG orientated ...and that was a PVE server (Perenolde).

I did enjoy the end game though.
When i was playing we could clear Luci to Domo without any problems but just couldn't down Rag.
In the end i figured it wasn't going anywhere and moved onto a game i could play with loads of players at MY desired times. BF2. Smile

i have a social life, the only times i sit on a pc is when im at school, maby 30-60min a day at night and when it`s weekend i play 3 hours, if im not on a party or playing poker etc.. therefore, you can have a social life if you play wow, i think wow rules but you dont have to spoil it all away in a week.. do like me ^^ i think my self that it can be alot of playing when im home in the vacations in the night, or in the weekends, it can be up to 3 hours..! then im tired!

i mean, its easier to not get that addicted.. you can go in an out much easier than in eq, wow, ao....

Its because like all other MMORPGS they only focus on grind.. there is no RPG. its a big massive grind fest until you top out and then you grind again until they release an EP during which point you go back and grind your first character some more.

People are slowly coming out of the trance fancy graphics puts on them and finally realizing that these games are essentially nothing. There is no challenge other than, how much time can you put in to it.

Instanced worlds and other things that don't change (in 99% of RPGs the world doesn't actually change, so what does it matter if its persistent?) don't lend themselves to immersion, or attempting to do something more with your character other than level. If players had an effect on the world, if they could shape its development, then you might see a great joy coming from playing MMORPGs.. as it stands now, EQ and all the EQ derivatives are crap.

i dunno bout that... but as u can see ppl are bored in wow. i know lots of ppl who stopped wow or lineage cause basically game looks like this > kill weak mobs > buy better weapons > kill tougher mobs > get better weapons etc. basically thats it. in GW u dont have to do stuff like this, cause u end up on lvl 20 and still u have tons of quests to do and lots of world to discover. no shitty farming exp and battles are not like in for example lineage 2 when u just stand in one place and fight. in GW u should be prepared and u have only 8 slots on character where u can take skills... and there are like 160 skills on one proffesion. besides... those quests... and neat pvp system where u fight on arenas... its not like its not addictable. it depends on person who plays it. i played lineage 2 for a year and got bored like after 6 month :/ lineage 2 suxx. i dunno bout wow but i read its pretty much the same so no comments here Wink

Wanna know why you got bored? Because wow fucking sucks. The only gameplay element in it is to make sure that you reach lvl60 ASAP and can get on spanking some noobs...

I don't find the instances boring as such, they just take far too long and you get very little return. Plus all guild use the same crappy DKP system which always favours the hardcore players (and why shouldn't it). If there wasn't such a high time requirement I would continue playing. But as it stands 3-4 hours a night or 5 hours for a weekend raid is more than i'm willing to give.

EQ2 FTW! Very Happy

serious, it's a fricken casual/solo gamer heaven. Sure there's lots of guild/group stuff to do, but just running around doing all the fun solo quests is a blast. Way more interesting than WoW.

As for the PvP comment...EQ2 is getting some PvP with the new expansion, so those itchin on bitchin about class imbalances your time has arrived!

---edit

how many nforces currently play eq2? i have a toon on everfrost and permafrost, but iv'e never thought to ask if there was an nforce-ish guild? Everyone is so stricken with WoW-fever I didn't think any here bothered with EQ2.

Why the hell do you want to pay 10 $ a month to play solo / casual stuff? There really isnt enough content in WoW to just go solo, im not suprised you got bored.

But yes - wow is boring endgame, especially MC. I think i'll try GW sometime, right now im playing EVE and loving it Smile Now i just need to get some kills.. :>

I've started playing GW, and although it's nice, it hasn't grabbed me as quickly as WoW did.

I'm still not settling to a Professions and don't even want to think about the second profession.

I'm guessing something like a Warrior/Monk would be the same as a Paladin...

Dark & Light maybe?

Anyway, I never played MMORPGs (except if you count Diablo 2 which I played about 12-14hrs a day at some point)... Can't stand PvP twats picking on the little guys, don't wanna spend 15€ a month when I can only play a couple hours a week, can't stand the datatransfer they use (my ISP still has a maximum data transfer you can have per month) and definately can't stand all the pointless chitchat coming from some ppl...
Try NWN, Gothic, Nox, DS,... all pretty nice SP rpgs without interference... sure, the world doesn't change, but it's still good for a gaming session and u don't need the 15€/month...

Gothics world changes to a certain degree.

I would say that the game that really impressed me by how much it allows you to affect the world was Outcast. You could do so much, it was fantastic.

For example, there was one massive region where all these farmers worked, it was basically slave labour. Well through your actions you could incite a revolt, totally changing everything about that region. Good memories! Smile
