Planetside used to be a really good MMO, simply because it was the only MMOFPS out there. It was /really/ fun fighting in battles with thousands of people at the same time. Now however, the game almost never has the big battles like it did, because of the lack of people playing the game.
Also, you may want to wait. Within a month 'fodderside' will go live. What this will basically do is make core game features free to play, hopefully bringing back the massive battles like it used to have.

Let me know when the free trail is On ! planetside had nice gameplay music from what I remember ! But honestly nothing kick wwwiioinline when we speak of mmorpg FPS

If you played before but quit you get 1 free month if you login to your account.
I played for a bit yesterday, and at night it was about 400+ people in one battle.
It was great, but needs a very powerful PC. My horse was chugging at 10-20 fps when everything was blowing up.

I just logged in to my station.com account with PlanetSide on it and there was no free month or any info on how to activate it.

You just have to run the game, and log into the game.
It will let you and open your account for 1 month.

You may also want to try Battleground Europe (formerly world war II online) if you like planetside. It's more of a simulation than Planetside but it's a great game. Has a 14 day free trial at the moment: www.battlegroundeurope.com
