Problem is in our internet era, its too easy to get everything. I have over 150 Xbox games that i downloaded and 85% of time have less than 45 minutes of play..some of them i didnt even touch yet. Like if i get stuck somewhere, i turn off the game and start another one. I remember when i didnt had my Xbox chiped and i was renting games, i was playing all the way through so its basicly the same on PC. The only games that keep me going right now are the ones with MP. For SP, the only ones i really played and replayed are the Call of Duty games.

Hey man, you left out the option "As soon as you downloaded, but before you installed it".
Very, very few games keep my attention.... Need to get on Civ4 though!

Depends on the game.
I go through stages where everything gets uninstalled within an hour or so until I find something that sticks, or until I give up and go back to playing NWN.

Actually can people put how old they are when they reply to this thread. I find that the older you get the less games occupy your mind. When I was a kid I could play a game for hours. Now I'm older it's rare that I play a game for more than a few mins before I get bored. Unless it's a really good game of course.

I always try to finish games, many of the games I didnt finished was because while playing it a new game that I want pops up so I go play that instead, this happen quite often.

Well a few years ago I remember when I couldn't wait for a release to come out. I'd get up and jump on the bus to the town. I'd buy the game and on the way home I'd read the instructions from cover to cover. Now when I buy a game I never even bother looking at the manual. I don't know, it just seems as I get older, games just don't seem to hold my attention as much. The only games that's held my attention in a long while are the Saga of Ryzom and css.

The only games that I've enjoyed, now being near 30, in the same way as I did while being a teenager are: Operation Flashpoint, Knights of the old republic, Baldur's Gate, and Fahrenheit. Most of the other games only give me a moments appreciation, if any at all.
Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.

you are just spoiled.
When you buy it, you want it to be fun
when you leech 1000000 games, it must be the best you ever saw to have fun with it.

It is all coming down to the game. Like Quake 4 really sucked IMHO but I have the little thing that I must complete every game I start to play. So I sat there and hoped it would end sometime and luckily enough it did...
Same about Doom3, never finished it last time so now I am on second try but I don't like it that much either to be honest.
On the other hand, Half-Life 2 I can play again and again and again. I am on my 7th time playing that game now. The reason this time was the release of Fakefactory Cinematic mod... Adding 2048x2048 textures really cuts the deal!
CoD 2 was great and so was F.E.A.R other than that few games last year caught my attention. On the other hand I have been busy playing BF2.
Behold his GLORY! Bow for the technical master!

Age is not a factor, or at least, not a comprehensive one - it's effects are different for everyone.
The problem is the games and the level of standards.
Do people say "oh your just getting older" when you don't enjoy a film? No they do not. Of course there are kids films which can only be appreciated either by being a certain age or clinging onto nostalgia but equally there are kids films which transcend that piddling standard to appeal to a much wider audience.

Hmm..
22. BUT... Up until I "quit" a month ago (big addiction for me) I played Counter-Strike hours upon hours per day. So it's not that I have no attention....
HL2, BF2 both kept my attention for a few weeks though. NFSu2 too.

it's sad to say but i don't game at all anymore... the last game i really enjoyed must have been half life 2, it was great, but now my laptop is getting a bit old and i don't have the money for a new one. I'm curently trying to play 25 to life (braindead game, just walk around and shoot, kinda entertaining after a day's work).
I hope at least Hitman: Blood Money will be good enough for me to finish it, but i have confidence in that game, the previous 3 were great too
