Hey guys, I just got a Sony DRU-800A for xmas Very Happy and I have absolutely NO IDEA which codec and/or pc dvd player soft to get.

Which one would be the best dvd decoder/codec, and player??

just got a dru-810a myself, get a codec pack like gknot codec pack and get MPC http://sourceforge.net/projects/guliverkli/ - plays everything. might work without the codec pack...

Instead of a codec pack I'd rather recommend ffdshow, plays almost any format but ogg/ogm.
For playback as mentioned above, MPC works great, it even supports dvd play-back, but some dvd-menus don't work for me (i.e.: the house of the flying...). The best soft dvd player is (for me) PowerDVD, but it's shareware Sad

Xine for Linux, works like a charm. Dunno if there is a port for win2
