pff, why do most companies ask allot:
Skills:
Usability, templating, security, network hardware, network software, testing, Windows, Linux, UNIX, web design, UI design, translation
Programming Languages:
PHP, XML, (X)HTML, WML, WAP, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Firebird, GDB, CGI, Perl, Ruby, Python, Bash, Apache, IIS, ASP, VB, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Smarty, Rails, COBOL, Pascal
i can do much with a computer but not nerd languages + other OS then windows :\
finding a job without those requirements sucks ass.

um I don't think they want one person to know all that stuff...
More something like being able to use and program OS independent in C++ and Visual Basic and you got a job...
Learning to program all those languages on all OS's would be almost impossible.

Come to think of it, how is the IT industry in Europe?
At my shop, we always have general labourers from the agency (work placement agency) working and doing shit. Alot of them are computer guys, like programmers or web developers or A+ techies (a+ isnt hard tho) etc etc In North America, the computer/tech field seems to be over crowded.
Is it better in europe? still a high demand for computer sciences grads?
A buddy I taught to weld like a year ago has a degree (?) in computer sciences, i believe he's a web developer but he may know c++ and shit, i dunno. Either which way, he'd move to europe for a good IT job...he spent a shit load of cash on a 4 year program at uni and wants to use what he knows.

then he should look into going to dubai or china, thats were the money is at the moment and lots of oppurtunitys if you have the qualifications

But he doesnt speak mandarin or whatever language they speak in Dubai.
He speaks only english, i take it that would make a difference.
Atleast most ppl in euro urban centres speak both english and their native tounge...well, least thats what i assume. |

haha..
You don't need *all* of those skills, they're simply examples. When you register/logon you fill out a web form with your skills and it has loads, for most I just put nothing.. If you have any IT skills you can apply, and so long as your truthful you will no doubt get some work in the long run.. however it is JUST starting.
Needless to say the guys who run the company are great, I have a meeting with them tommorrow about it, so Ill make sure to moan lots about how un-informative the website is at this pressent time  ..
