|
 |
I have two PC sharing a DSL connection through a wired router. It seems that when I'm downloading stuff using Azureus on one PC, it slows the other PCs web browsing considerably.
Is there any way to fix this or work around it? Any help would be appreciated.

DONT USE BIT TORRENT. That is the only way around it.. Bit Torrent spams networks with large packets effectively using all of the network bandwidth both internally and externally..

Reduce the upload speed in your settings, if your upload speed is capping (which I bet it is) your network is screwed.
Set it to like 10kb/sec, or if you don't give a shit about upping at all, set it to 0 kb/sec, although some sites make you maintain a ratio.

naah...the problem is the router....these cheap routers can handle 200 simultaneous connections max. just reduce the connection count to 30 per torrent and total 100 max. also make sure you have 2 uplads per torrent and 1-2 active torrents.
I you want more sim. connects, invest money into professional routers, but they don't come cheap

I know it use to much of the bandwidth, but the consept is really good imo, and its more or less 100% safe if your member of site with comments. A serious one.
But yeah, ftp ftw! I wanna join a ftp circle, but don't know where to seek =\

elite torrent sites kick ass ,guess you have never been a member of one to see how good they are ,im on one that gets stuff just as quick as my courrier friend can and he gets most stuff before nforce lists the nfos so he cant be that bad, and the people who seed the torrents are on 100mbit lines so i get stuff just as quick as your going to on ftp's without the hassle of having to build up credits.
most people i know left the ftp scene as they got older and just went to the invite only torrent sites which are less hassle

I dont think you understood the point of my statement. I was saying that Torrent is not a secure protocol as your information is easily accessed by all those your downloading from. Thus it is not safe.

Topsite requires you to access 1 IP.. ever.. Torrents are P2P thus you connect to multiple people to download a file, the chances of privacy are changed by the number of people you are downloading from.. if your torrent site has 100 members your around 100 times less safe than on a topsite. From what I can see gaining access to a private torrent group would be no where near as hard as getting access to a topsite, so the chances of infiltration are far higher.. Then there is also the point that finding a torrent tracker, private or not, is a million times eaiser than finding a private FTP containing warez.
I wont say how, but anyone who knows about networking will back this up.
