A friend just called me and said that his PC doesn´t start anymore, and he explained the problem like this:

When trying to boot normally, the PC automatically reboots before the logon screen.
If you choose Safe mode, you get the "This version of XP isn´t authentic"-bla bla. But there are 2 choices, and none of them are selectable? The two options were something like "Solve now " and "Later"-something...

Any help is appreciated.

The rebooting doesn't sound like something in connection with the validation, but rather a BSOD, try to deactivate automatic rebooting in "Startup and Recovery" in the Computer properties dialog if you are able to use the system in safe mode. It can however be the validation program that causes the BSOD on boot, but I don't think that is intentionally by Microsoft.

No, it´s not possible to use the system, since the validation dialog appears before you reach the desktop..

Have you tried to press CTRL + DEL and use the task manager to start explorer.exe or any other think like that? If you are able to do that I think you can remove the check from the Add / Remove Programs dialog.
