Does anyone use Vonage as there home phone provider? They use VOIP which requires a broadband connection which I already have. There deals are pretty cheap and I was wondering if there are any downsides to using this. One I can think of is if my internet connection goes down, which has happened before, I will lose the ability to call.

You lose 911 kinda. They send 911 through vonage own little center and then they call the real 911 for you. It can delay the response time by 20 min so have a cell phone ready if you ever are in need of an ambulance

I love my road runner digital phone system, $39 a month, unlimited call in the US and Canada.

Question for anyone using Vonage - If your leeching something while talking will that turn the quality over the phone to shit?
Seems like a good deal to me - I use the phone a couple times a week tops.

Yeah, I also wanted to know if downloading will affect the quality of a person's voice. But usually I'm not downloading so much as to use all of my bandwidth.
