Accessed a word file on one of my storage drives, then rebooted in preperation for some gaming. Went to go take a leak and came back to see windows dskchk slaughtering data on my D: drive. Logfile below in the spoiler tag....

 Spoiler:

So, do I have sectors on that drive now that perma fucked? Am I at risk for more random data loss? And lastly, what give windows the fuckin right to wipe shit without my consent (even if it is unreadable)....

Any apps recommended for checking hd sector status?

Thanks.

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Always use the tool supplied by the manufacturer of the drive, for ease of use you can boot from the ultimate boot cd, it has all the major brand tools on it:

For data recovery i recommend Easy Recovery Pro from Ontrack

Seems like your drive is in trouble, hard to tell if more sectors will fail, do you hear any strange noises from your hd?

PowerMix 3 eats ultimatebootcd for dinner, chews, and spits it out, and asks for seconds.

Yes, yes I'm back.
Somewhat.
