Hey, i'm waiting to buy this program since late october (it was rumored to be out by middle/late december) and it's still not there. Did the devs decide to give up on that? or they just claimed to defeat sf when they actually can't do a damn about it?

Good question indeed...

I was asking myself it they were still working on the "famous Holy Graal of the emulation" :

- the full IDE virtual drive Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Just hope they didn't reach a technical dead end Confused Confused

@Selt : maybe do u have more informations regarding the last DT developments ?

I was wondering about this to if it is that difficult to build the virtual IDE drive perhaps its more easy to build an virtual sata drive wich should do the same trick as sata can not be ignored more new dvd writers will become sata. problaby HD dvd and Blue ray will be also using the sata interface.

mabye a noob question,

but with almost all of the starforce release, you have to unplug your IDE drives. but what if you dont have IDE drives but SATA drives, will the game then play without unplugging?

splinter cell 3 got that better protection... that you also can call malware... cuz it installs itself on your PC without asking shit Cool

Try it. Mount with DT4 and If SF asks to insert disk into another drive you need to unplug all your real CD/DVD drives

my drives arnt all sata, i have 1 IDE and 1 SATA. because burners are already sata, but readers arnt. but ofcourse i can try it with only the sata drive pluged in. but the outcome may change with 2 driver of SATA.

I think it will be something with online activation so it will be much harder to crack. Anyway, its only 15$ to register if its good and useful tool why not?

because it probably will only work for a short period then copy protection will get around it and u have to wait months again for a new dt version that works

and...? if u became a dtools customer u have all the pro version. the 15$ it's not a limited time customership that u have to pay again to get new versions.
u become a customer, u remain a customer and receive the pro versions without being charged anything else

i didnt say you would have to pay again for a new version, but im not paying 15$ for a fix that might only work for a few games when i can unplug my ide drives for free and play them anyway

Yes you can. Enjoy while you still can. Latest starforce version already has "Blacklist ALL SCSI drives" option, which makes all present virtual drives absolutely useless, but developers are too scary to use this option yet cuz some people still have real SCSI drives, but these are rare, so some day soon you'll have to switch to PRO and vIDE

correct. if they are brave enough to forbid the use of any scsi drive, real or virtual they may be, it would be the end of the current daemon tools.
luckily they are waiting too long to use that, and when they'll start using it it would be too late Twisted Evil

When you install an SF game, some people think it installs some bad SF drivers on your PC, and the SF team says no to this, its just roumors,

Its just a prosess when you run the game, nothing else. Atleast they say so

Yes, sometimes I'm wondering that too, it is always "When its done", shall we add it to the list Duke Nukem Forever?
When its done, you can always say SOMETHING about it, within a year, two year or, ...?

beta testing for pro v1 starting next week. things have gone longer then expected because of the need of a tages image creation / emulation tool included.
atm starforce 4.xx and tages can both be cloned and emulated without a single problem.

it's coming

><; Thats true actually.... Starforce doesn't install when you install from the disk. It installs when you run the infected programs EXE.

Would be really cool. Now when some publishers switched from SF to Tages the emulation of both is required if they want to sell their awesome (i hope) tool Smile
I hope there are no any serious bugs in their beta Cool
