|
 |
As some of you know by now a tool called sfcure has been released on a well known site. There a versions of this tool avaiable. One is a bit older than the other one. I tested the newer one. Here is a little manual for you all.
1. Unzip sfcure01.zip
2. doubleclick !setup.bat to install the driver and press "ok" to put the needed information into your registry
3. restart your computer
4. to start the driver doubleclick !start.bat (to stop it after use doubleclick !stop.bat)
5. Get yourself a copy of Splinter Cell Chaos in mdf/mds format made with Alcohol 120%. The mds-file has to contain the DPM-information (DPM= Data Position Measurement) and the mdf-file has to one big non-splitted image. A image splitted into for example 2 gig segments wont work, at least it didnt work for me. The mdf-filesize for Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is 4,15 gigabyte for me.
6. Mount the image and install the game.
7. Start Starforce Nightmare 1.12 and disable your internal ide-Cd and DVD-drives and also disable node.
8. Now start the game while the sfcure-driver is started and starforce will verify that the mounted image is real. (Some of you maybe have to restart your computer because Starforce tells you to do this)
9. Enjoy Splinter Cell Chaos Theory without an USB-drive!
Btw: The above mentioned method has also been tested by me on the following games 1944: Battle of the Bulge, Panzers: Phase Two, Cross Racing Championship 2005 and Trackmania: Sunrise. I can personally confirm that I played them without a problem.
Also a short note on Starforce Nightmare 1.12. From starforce version 3.5.XX.XX and further you cant use Starforce Nightmare to disable your internal ide-CD and DVD-drives. In such a case you have to manually remove the powercable from your drives. But you still have to use Starforce Nightmare to disable node, because this is needed to hide your virtual drives.
I hope this manual helps some of you without an USB-drive to play Splinter Cell Chaos Theory and other SF-titles, while we wait for Daemon Tools 4. I also hope that some clone-groups release high-DPM versions of newer SF-titles such as Bet on Soldier or the upcoming Brothers in Arms.

I've the tried the tool with SC:CT. Didn't work for me! I read that other people couldn't get it to work. I guess it's simply doesn't work on all systems.
Just one question: what's the use of this tool when DT4 is just a few weeks away?

i tried with cross racing championship SFclone-Mirror.
heres my process:
1) game was already installed and mounted.
2) installed sfcure driver.
3) shut down my computer.
4) unplugged my cdrom drive.
5) started sfcure
6) disabled CD and node in starforce nightmare
7) ran the game via shortcut.
at this point starforce says its checking the CD but its stuck half way.
then... nothing its frozen.
can anyone help me?

Yeah, all this manual disconnecting of shit is kinda too much effort to play a game...unless its like a favourite and I just HAVE to play it, fuck it, its to much effort for me...still, the fact that we have a way around is nice, just I prefer fucking around with software only tricks as oppose to hardware stuff...even tho its only unplugging a disc drive, its still fuckin annoying...honestly, who the hell has hands small enough to properly handle those little fuckin screw screws, plugs, wires etc shit...man, get me bent...and still, im a welder, I dont have little ass screw drivers and shit...

Only your real CD and DVD-drives are disabled. Disable node is only used to hide your virtual drives (Daemontools and Alcohol) from being detected by Starforce, it doesnt disable them!

ok i'll try using nightmare first then starting the driver after. though i dont see why it would work that way. i suspect that nightmare disabing node doesnt work on my computer (i have amd64 and asus k8se mobo).
is there a way to tell that nightmare successfully disabled the nodes?
also do i need to first remove the starforce driver ?
