It's easy to find leaked Vista builds. No idea if Winbeta still distributes them over IRC, if not they can still be found easily.
Have they fixed the "tiny" problem with that a Vista formatted disc can not be formatted by Windows XP setup?

Im tempted to try this on one of my work PCs and I know Windows Vista is a 64bit operating system but does it have to have a 64bit CPU?
May the NFOrce be with you always.

I took my pc apart, removed all my drives and connected a spare hard drive and installed vista on that.
I navent done anything else with that drive since.

nah, vista was primarily developed as 32bit, MS started the 64bit development much later, i don't even know if there is a 64bit version out. I've tried various builds at work, and all were/are 32bit.

Any tried creating a dual boot system? I left some space on my drive to make a linux partition, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
or for that matter what about loading it up with vmware?

Hi - Yes I am running Vista dual boot with XP - Install XP first.
Not bad - however only 14 days to evaluate and the only work around that I know of makes the system very very very slow.
Hoping to evalutae for longer than 14days - if anyone has any idea's please email me, annlan@REMOVE MEiinet.net.au

google antiwpa
I found a hack that involved disabling some service in msconfig.
This was supposed to remove the trail but it was also claimed that there's a time bomb in the beta I had so it stoppped working at a certain date anyway.

alright so I installed vista (took forever) on a separate partition and have toyed around with it a bit but I also have been bogged down by homework and other things so no screenshots yet. Also I was wondering about the legality of posting these screenshots seeing as it is a beta. I'll post some when I'm more confident that I wont get in any sort of trouble.
My first impressions are good aside from it running incredibly slow. i half expected this though considering it being a beta and all. Without getting into too many details just yet I would like to say that I enjoy the new interface and effects it has. Usually with my computer I would turn off themes and get rid of some of the fancy effects that windows uses. I will probably do the same when vista is installed as my main OS (prolly a couple of years from now ) but for now I will keep them enabled for fun. IE7 is pretty cool as it has incorporated tabbed browsing but the advertisements kill me so I think I would stick with firefox with adblock and what not. Considering I have only had about 30 minutes to play around with it my impressions aren't too deep but I will toy around with it more later.

hehe. it's like alt-tabbing but you use the windows key instead of alt. It's called flip 3d or something. Anyway it gives you this 3d display of the open windows that you can scroll through. IMO its nothing more than some eye candy because with the window previews now available when alt-tabbing its basically useless.
