Any good software for this? Only needs a few features such as multiple directory listing, passwords etc. nothing overly fancy, just a simple client really.

Preferably not bulletproof since that was a cunt for me last time.

Could not agree more. I have never had a prob with bulletproofFTP . I would recommend it.

indeed, glftpd for linux, for windows either ioftpd (if you want glftpd features) or g6 ftp server. It's running very stable, and has all the features except site commands, but it's not the fastest if you turn on tls.

defo glftpd for linux without a doubt the best
but if you want a simple freeware (GPL) one for windows
try FileZilla

raiden FTPD has worked flawlessly for me the past few years. Seems complex at first, but for your basic needs it's quite easy to use.
