Agreed. I'm a big PzC fan as well. Have every ISO of the PzC and Modern Campaigns series, but never got the Smolensk and Kharkov ones (my favorites). I'm still using the Class rips for those, so I'm always on the lookout here at Nforce for any patches. I'd love to find those two ISOs to complete the set, so I'm always on the lookout.

The addon for KP did come out in january, according to this very site, though never saw any copy neither on Bittorrent nor on IRC

Actually, I did get the add-on (Across the Dnepr) via the newsgroups. Worked like a charm, too.

Now I'm hoping that Reloaded releases SSG's newest game in the Decisive Battles series: Battles in Normandy. Hog heaven, man.

Don't worry about it, take the tutorial and read the manual. The whole thing is pretty easy to understand, if you know english once you read it you can play with no probs.

I'd like this game a lot more if the patches were possible. Since this is a very, very niche game, does that mean that these huge patches are a nearly impossible to hope for? I've always liked the Dox scene more than the real-deal ISO scene for some reason. My Patches directory contains many years' worth of dox releases, but that's the fun thing about them. They're all valuable, since they're unpredictably available. Crack sites are useful, for true, but damn if having a patch packaged with a crack in a nice archive isn't the sweetest thing outside of having an ISO of a game.

Then again, maybe it's just as well they don't release the patches all the time. Encourages people to buy the games. I know it's done that to me on more than one occasion...

I also like -- when playing the Grand Campaign scenario -- that you can assign the computer to "take over" certain theatres so that you can manage a single area like, say, the South Pacific or Solomons.
.

really ? how do u do that

Possibly. I am hoping that Reloaded actually does a patch for this thing. Problem with a monster like this is that all the grognards who play it will want it patched to death because of absolutely tiny discrepancies in the OOB (Order of Battle). It's not surprising to see a patch released that "fixes" the fact that the A6M Zero fighter shows having 2 carburetors instead of the 'proper' 1; or some lowly Japanese freighter called the Yokusuka Koga Maru operating in the South China Sea is found to have been misspelled. The real spelling should be Yokusuka Kogi Maru (all because some super wargame freak is a total afficianado of Japanese merchant marine ships between 1942-1944). Anyway, you get the idea.

Let's cross our fingers that the patches show up.

Exactly. That's why the game is so incredible in many ways; again, only if you're into that sort of thing. It's also why releases like this get labeled as 'pieces of crap' since they look so "old" or retro, as if the programmers were a bunch of lamers. It just ain't so. The programmers spent all their time handling all the detail which, to WiTP's target audience, is all that really counts.

Now... back to my turn. Where's that shipment of Kidney Beans I misplaced that I promised to Midway Island? Very Happy

Read section 4.2.1 of the Manual (PDF, pg. 35) entitled Control Zones and Human versus Computer Control of Units. Here's a snippet:
----------------------------
The maps in full-map scenarios, which cover the entire campaign area from the west coast of India to the west coast of the United States, are divided into nine Control Zones. To bring up the display, either press the Show Control Zones button at the top of the screen or press Z.

In each Zone, the player may choose to allow the computer AI to run heir campaigning by clicking on the text immediately below the area’s designation.

Toggling on regional status computer control allows the artificial intelligence to control that region, using all assets found in the region,
towards its own ends and in its own fashion. This can be useful in a one player game, if the player wants to control, say, the British in the India
area, while allowing the computer to play the Americans elsewhere.

-------------------------------

Remember that this is only for the full-map (i.e., full campaign) scenarios.

For anyone that's interested, PWZiSo has just released:

War in the Pacific 1.20 Update (120 meg)
and
War in the Pacific 1.21 Update (4.5 meg)

Perfect timing. If you've got the release already, get the updates. Lots of fixes, apparently. Check Binnews/Newzbin for newsgroup locations.

Tried the tutorial again ,alt tabbing between the pdf and the game all the time and I am starting to get it.(took me about 4 to 5 hours though Smile )

Steep learning curve still and the game is still a bit slow and cumbersome but Rome total war isnt here yet so I have plenty of time to spend on this game.

Looks like it's a keeper but I will definately suspend playing this game when Rome total war and half life 2 arrive.Ah well plenty of hard drive space.
