Freedom Planet is a combat-based platform adventure that pits a spunky dragon girl and her friends against an alien attack force. There's trouble around every turn, from insects to giant robots to sheer explosive destruction, but you'll have a variety of special fighting abilities to blast your way through each stage.
As Lilac, you can use Dragon powers to whip enemies with your hair, spin like a cyclone, or fly through the air at high speed like a comet.
As Carol, you can bust through foes with a flurry of punches and kicks or summon motorcycles that let you ride up walls and ceilings.
Features:
Dash across the oriental world of Avalice with boosts, bikes and other high-speed gimmicks to achieve the fastest time
Explore at your own pace to find hidden paths and treasures and collect as many crystals as possible
Help Lilac and friends save their world from war in an engaging Adventure mode with fully voiced cutscenes
Choose between full voice acting, RPG-style text boxes or straight-to-the-point action
Battle tons of quirky boss enemies including giant robots, towering alien creatures and aggressive rivals
Discover five elemental shields that reflect specific attacks and provide cool benefits
Unlock special bonuses, including mini-games, achievements and unused artwork and music
**Future content is planned! We'll be continuously adding new features, and any future DLC we include will be free of charge.**

As I posted on RIN; this looks incredible It's like someone started off with a Sonic mod and realised "fuck this, we can make this into a real honest-to-god game!" - I love it 3 days and no RLS though... tut tut.

Oh wow, this is so... so good! It doesn't "take inspiration from Sonic" it IS Sonic, I said it before I'll say it again; I'd swear up and down that this started life as a Sonic fan game before becoming a full commercial venture, it's Sonic through and through and it's so good!

The sequel to the Wii U hit Freedom Planet is now in development! Join the heroes of Avalice as they face their greatest challenge yet! An ancient terror has emerged from the depths of the ocean. Merga, a water dragon from Avalice's oldest and deadliest war, has been freed from her crystal prison as a consequence of the Kingdom Stone's destruction. War is imminent once again, but this time, the heroes are split between sides. As friendships are tested, will the girls stand united when Bakunawa rises?
Further details:
Quote:
- We commissioned Taxman to recreate Freedom Planet's physics in Unity and to assist us with general programming. The new engine is vector based, so we were able to scale it for the new screen resolution while still keeping the gameplay largely the same.
- Falk and a few VGO guys composed the music for the trailer; Falk himself will be assisting with mixing and mastering for the soundtrack. Woofle and I will be the main composers like last time.
- Christopher Sabat is providing the OkraTron 5000 audio production company in Dallas, Texas, so we won't have any quality or balancing issues like in FP1. VAs who are international will have their equipment upgraded if necessary.
Some of the planned new features for the game:
Lilac, Carol and Milla will all return as playable characters with updated designs and new attacks.
There are more differences between Adventure and Classic mode. Adventure is geared more towards short play sessions and features a world map for navigating between stages, and it features a story that's broken up into "arcs" that are around 2-3 stages long. Classic is geared towards a full playthrough in a single afternoon, and features a simplified stage tree along with multiple paths to the finale.
A guard/parry system. There is a dedicated "Guard" button that, when pressed, creates a split-second shield that makes attacks pass through your character, not unlike air dodging in Smash Bros. This removes the dependency on special attacks to avoid damage and will let us get a bit crazier with our boss fights.
Revivals. When you're defeated, you can choose to spend an extra life on the spot in order to get back up with a sliver of health and temporary invincibility. If you're not careful, another hit or two will make you die again and you'll have effectively lost two lives, but during close boss battles it can be all you need to deliver a final blow without having to restart the fight. Outside of bosses, it also prevents a hefty loss of time by having to go back to a previous checkpoint. In light of this, Game Overs will now trigger a full stage restart.
A more customizable difficulty system. You can collect special Gold Gems in the stages (or fuse them using regular crystals), which you can use to temporarily alter the rules of the game such as adding/subtracting starting lives, changing damage multipliers, turning all shield crystals into a single element, and more. It's similar to the Cyber Elf system from the Mega Man Zero series. If you're not a fan of the Revival or Guard mechanics, they can be disabled this way.
We'll be dishing out more info as it progresses but I am so excited to finally start working on it and to share my ideas!
Please enjoy this Sample Version of our upcoming game! This demo includes a special build version of the level "Dragon Valley" and includes all four playable characters, a dozen items to set to create different difficulties and the first boss seen in the Freedom Planet 2 lineup!
Features
Four playable characters available from the start, each with her own unique fighting style: Lilac the Dragon Girl (Speed Type), Carol the Wildcat (Brawler Type), Milla the Hound (Explorer Type), and Neera the Frost Knight (Power Type).
Explore the world of Avalice in Adventure mode. Travel through a sprawling world map filled with treasures, landmarks, and over 100 unique animal NPCs to interact with and catalog.
Dive straight into the action with Classic Mode. A streamlined navigation screen gives you quick access to stages and other important features without the need for travelling.
Test your fighting skills in the Battlesphere arena. Once reached, the Battlesphere hosts a variety of challenges featuring enemies and bosses you've previously encountered, along with brand new surprises!
Parry enemy attacks with the new Guard button. If timing's not your thing, an Auto Guard item exists in the game that makes your character automatically guard against attacks if possible.
A new Revival system gives you a chance to clinch victory during very close battles. Use it wisely - it costs a stock and one more hit will knock you out again!
Power up your heroine with customizable potions. Collect and mix a rainbow of ingredients that boost her vitality in different ways, such as increasing her stock count, shield durability, attack power, speed, and more.
Change the rules with a multitude of equippable items. Amulets and Charms provide helpful effects, while Brave Stones make combat harder in exchange for bonus crystals.
Signature/Avatar nuking: none (can be changed in your profile)
