Would i be able to replace SUSE Linux 10 with Mandriva Powerpack 2006? , Since suse is causing me alot of problems with my monitor. How can i do this without messing with my windows partition? and i want to be able to dual-boot windows/mandriva, instead of the current windows/suse.
put in the mandriva CD/DVD and format the suse partition and install there same as you did before? Then edit your boot loader to reflect the new OS installed if Mandriva doesn't do it automatically.
Its just like installing over Windows.. just install Mandirva on the linux partition!
I would suggest you try Debian.. harder to install but far easier to maintain, SUSE/Mandirva/Red Hat/Fedora are bloated.. Maybe look into Ubuntu - http://www.ubuntu.com/ - Its a wonderful dsitro if your new to linux, plus its based on Debian !
I've used Ubuntu/Kbuntu (VMWare) before but I needed to install alot of extra packages to get it the way i wanted, And I found SUSE to be better since all the packages where already installed apart from the monitor problems i would have kept it.
So i'm going to stick with mandriva and i'll let you know how the install goes.
