I've patched my Civ4 to 1.61 and replaced the original .exe with the one from PCGAME, and it starts fine, but each time I start a new game (the normal way or through custom settings), I don't see any special items on the game map (like horses, pigs, villages, etc.) even though they are showing up in the description when I move my mouse over the field, and every game ends after 10 turns. It even says so in the upper right corner that there are only 10 turns left when you start.

This is obviously some sort of copy protection fooling, so it seems that PCGAME did not fully crack it. Thus it should be nuked for not working properly.

[EDIT]: I just found this on GCW's File Forum:

Quote:
Civilization.4.UPDATE.v1.61.iNTERNAL.READNFO.CRACK FiX-CARBON

Code:

NOTES:
1) PCGAME's crack wasn't compatible to Win2k, this is fixed.
2) PCGAME's crack had one hidden check uncracked, this is fixed.

iNTERNAL Reason is clear as water: We don't have the permission from PCGAME...Use it or don't - it's up to you! Keep it up guys!

So nuke this rubbish PCGAME one. Razz

Hi,
i don't know if carbon crack solves that problem actually...

But i'm reinstalling civ 4 right now!

Hmm, i can't see any scenery, but i can play more than 10 rounds...

Edit: nuked: grp.req.not.fully.cracked

Sure, it let's you continue after those 10 rounds, but it no longer gets counted then for the highscore list. And the lack of scenery is rather irritating...

But I already told you that on ICQ. Razz

The CARBON one has the same trouble.
- Ends after 10 turns
- Can's see forest, neutral tribes, etc

Guess we gotta wait some more

Because they just tested it on one PC. And in a later nfo file they released they claim that the protection is "strange". As the crack will work properly on the PC its cracked on but not on another PC.

Hi,
yeah, anything is possible with that custom-code-shit...

With v1.61 the engine is updated (CvGameCoreDLL.dll), and it has some real strange calls in it...
Seems like the engine is self-modifying-shit, with lots of CMP's.

The cracked exe passes a wrong value to the engine - custom shite modifies the game..

Not easy, really not easy...

lets just say that sometime, soon, in a while... Somehow a properly cracked one will appear somewhere on the net and perhaps spread its wings...

If you don't trust me... Well just wait and see... Very Happy

I tried using the 1.52 crack, but the game didn't even start anymore. I had to un- and re-install, patch to 1.52 and use the crack again to get it back up and running, with all the lovely scenery. Smile

Seems to be mixed results on Win2k to be honest. Some people have not troubles in Win2k but some seem to have.

WinXP works fine though so I guess TNT will whore a bit and release a "Win9x/2k fix" as always... Rolling Eyes

Latest repack seems fine but don't worry, TNT won't release any useless fix since they can't crack any good protection at all
