Hitman: Blood Money

  • Publisher: Eidos Interactive
  • Developer: Io Interactive
  • Genre: Strategic Shooter
  • Release date: Coming 2005
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

The fourth in the chilling Hitman series featuring the cold-blooded killer Agent 47. Finding that members of his contract agency, The ICA, are now being quietly (and mortally) eliminated, Agent 47 suspects a larger organization is moving in. Fearing he may be the next target, he heads to America. His jobs now will pay in straight-up cash -- and how he spends the money will affect what weapons he has and what he does next. The developer added new gameplay systems, such as the concepts of notoriety and of blood money. The new Notoriety system means that anyone causing a bloodbath worthy of front page news is risking being recognised by civilians and guards in the future. Blood money lets players spend their earnings on fully customisable precision weapons and specialist equipment, or they can buy additional information upon the targets and location at hand, to aid a successful and professional hit.

I've never played the first two hitman games but i played Hitman contracts (which contained some identical missions from the first two games, am I right?) which was very entertaining. So I might not be a die-hard hitman-fan but I'm surely gonna give hitman contracts a try. The best new option is that now you can actually spend your bloody earned bucks by buying all sorts of gadgets and weapons. I personally would like to see another mission in The Netherlands ('IK MAAK JE KAPOT')!

I think it's not going to be very good. Since the last one was not so good, and well..frankly, it didn't bring any new stuff into the game. It's getting old, and maybe it's time to stop milking the dead cow and invent some new shit.

I think the main reason why the last one wasn't that great was because half of the game was just levels from the first game.

hitman 1 was great, ahead of its time, it was technically advanced, the first game ever to use ragdoll physics (afaik, I'm not sure about carmageddon2 though, that one had something similiar as well), and great gameply symbiosis. Hitman 2 was simply a sequel, nothing new, good but not very good. Too little progression technically.

this one looks nice graphically... I do hope though They'll implent more realistic levels than in hitman, the atmosphere should be more realistic as well.

1. Hitman is all about the music.
2. goto 1.

Anyway, this is really a nice move for the series. As mentioned in the Gamespy preview, you'll be working as a free agent, meaning that you will arrange your own hits and collect your own payment. Besides the great music (if they toss Jesper Kydd, the series is all but dead), it looks like there may be some RPG elements involved. I hope there are.

Anyway, the series can go one of 2 ways:

- Milking the dead cow, only now as a freelancer (the game will still be fun, but the series will die there)
- Adding RPG elements to the game (if not on a GTA scale, at least on a DXIW scale), plus various goodies like byog (buy your own guns), and purchase-able gadgets, armor, bribes, and (yes) vehicles. This will make the game unbelievable, and will re-ignite Hitman like nothing.

Imagine the following:

You were assigned by an unknown benefactor to dispose of Vinny the Hack. Vinny lives in a mansion with a crew of bodyguards. You can
- Spend all your money on heavy guns and ammo and go in killing everybody you see (Mass Murderer rating and $125,000 payout)
- Bribe the chief of security to clear a path for you to break 1 neck, sneak through a window, and silently dispatch of Vinny with his own pillow (Hitman rating and $150,000 payout)
- Sneak past security, drug a cook, and talk him into believing that Vinny is going to kill him, thus making the cook do all the work. ($200,000 and Silent Assassin rating).

Plus options... like being able to use a grappling hook (if you have) to climb from the neighboring roof into his window, or having access to NV goggles to help you sneak.

3 things I really want in this game.

1.More realism relating to the damage characters can take.

2.Because you have to restablish yourself in america, you start with minor hits e.g. some women hiring you to take out her husband and stuff.

3. Neck breaking.

Wink

What does whom I have in my avatar have to do with imagination? Your argument is ill-formed and false, go play with your other leg now, thank you.

Opinionated dilletants don't make good games, but they're good at expressing their opinions on "how they should be".
