omfg! by balls are sweaty and my ass is stuck to my leather chair! the heat is almost unbearable!, its got to be atleast 32c inside my room. my comp is almost melting Laughing
29c ambient temp ,54c cpu and 70c gpu while gaming Twisted Evil and thats with 4 case fans.

just 3 months ago my gpu wouldnt even have hit 60c when i was playing games this sucks!

the only form of air conditioning i have is opening my balcony door and front door wide open lol but theres no fucking wind so it doesnt do anything Mad
you americans with your air conditioning probably dont know how luck you are!

only good thing about this heatwave is that there was a cool program on tv last nite about the heatwave of 1989 in the UK where everyone was taking E's at raves and having a blast lol pitty i was only 8 back then as it looked like the best party year ever for england and no violence Shocked

LOL even after i filled my whole computer case with vents and stuff, some days i can only play at night so my PC wont explode... Razz i think i need to go on to water cooling Razz

Yeah i know this thing, for example my piano teachers who are russian are used to the russian climate so it's always hot for them here, but what's ironic is that they are too used to wear coats and stuff so i find them alot of times with coats when it's quite hot Razz

Though i live in jerusalem ( a mountain) so we get wind breezes most of the time, so in the evening it's not very hot, the ones i really petty are the ones in the coast cities which suffer from high temprature and high humidity = Living hell Razz

This is really weird, last night I noticed my CPU, GPU, GPU ambient were running hot as well so I was searching all over the place to find out what they should be at. . Now I see other people posting about it as well. I was thinking about asking this in the hardware zone but I know there aren’t a lot of macX users here

Right now my CPU is at 57 c. Last night it was 75 c. I have a problem with one of the games I play, I used to think it was the game itself, now I think it might be over heating CPU. The graphics freeze after about 14 mins of game play, the sound works for a while then the sound and screen freeze. I can’t restart or anything I have to pull the fucking plug. It I leave it frozen the fans start up like crazy, usually you can’t hear them cpu/1000/rpm, HD/1400/rpm. Apparently MacX G5’s are not so good for overheating, bad design. It’s only 2 inches wide. Air goes in a small strip at the top of the back and comes up the bottom. I might have to make some calls to my dealer. It should be under warranty as long as I don’t physically fuck with anything myself.

Now you guys have me worried I am going to have problems in the summer.
75 c isn't good is it? Maybe it was even hotter. I couldn't check the temp until it was up again.

I don't know much about MACs, but i know that for an AMD 64 processor these tempratures are really too high, but for an Intel Prescott Processor 75 Degrees is allright. Since i dunno what cpu is in a Mac G5 i don't know what to tell you.
I think the best place would be a mac forum.

Thanks for your input Very Happy

I was looking around last night in different mac forums and 74 was considered high but no one seems to be freaking out about it. One guy said 92 c and he could smell burning plastic lol The first gen of G5's there was a overheating problem there was a part that had to be replaced but mine isn't one of those. Some mac users physically added an extra fan but it looks like shit.

I just wanna play my game Sad

CPU type is powerPC G5 (3.1) Right now its at 57 c

I have some more research to do later when I have time. Plus a phone call.

@ pistol

Is it an Imac G5 becuase you day it's 2 inches wide.
There's not much space inside the Imac mini had a system where it ran slower at high temperatures maybe its that.
Lovely looking pc though I'm using apple pro keyboard with my pc.

ooohhh 32c. poor baby Razz.

down here its not "hot" until its 35 at least and people dont complain until its 41-45. Actually last summer my proccy died (old Athlon XP 2700+) cause of the heat, ran it at 75 idle/80 load for a week. It really didnt like that, then I had to shutdown to go to a lan and upon arrival it just wouldn't boot.

General rule of thumb I've found is 30-40c for a CPU is perfect, 50-60c is okay, 70+ you gotta look out, I've not heard of a CPU getting to 92 and living! Razz. But things are most probably different for a Mac with a G5/PowerPC chip.

Though with GPU's its completley diff, they can and do go over 110 regularly.

The CPU on my old PC was 90-100 some days.
Cleaned the cpu-fan, and it went down to 30-40 Razz

Yep --Imac G5
Machine Name: iMac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac12,1
CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (3.1)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 2.1 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 512 MB
Bus Speed: 700 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.2.6f1

Yea I guess the keyboard is good. 2 USB ports in it. I like the look of the clear plastic but so much shit gets stuck in there. Mighty mouse is ok. The roller ball on the top gets dirty often and stops working so you have to clean it all the time.

I didn’t get a chance to call in today but I did some looking around and found a few sites that said unproved reliability for new design and cooling system. The game I am trying to play is for the Imac G4 so without a doubt I should be able to play it. It seems to do this whenever I have a game with cool graphics that are always changing. For everything else it’s great. I can be downloading something, on the internet, burning a DVD, playing Itunes, and converting some file to something else, using appleworks plus other stuff all at the same time and there is a 2 sec lag in-between switching programs

This is a picture of the back. The diagonally slot at the top is the the air comes out
editing

This is a picture of where the air goes in at the bottom. Not much of a cooling system. I gotta do something with some fans.

Yes that is a boat on the wall.
