I hate to admit it, but I know there is a little fanboy in me. I want one console to succeed over the others. Still, I know that it's flat out stupid, and I hate others for it...

I'm not the flaming kind of fanboy, but I want one company to gain market over the other like it was a team in the Football League. The problem is; I don't know why... WHY the feck should I care? I can just join the winning team and be a winner myself.. but no no, I'm going to predict my winner and stand by my choice, at all cost!!

Why can't I just DO whats fun, rather than CONVINCEING OTHERS whats fun?! Why do so many people have the NEED to CONVINCEING OTHERS of THEYR OWN CHOICES? And on top of that, this NEED becomes so strong that it actually replace the need of haveing FUN.

The answer is our EGO - the root to all evil.

Ask yourself this: "Whats more important than LIFE QUALITY?"

Then ask yourself this: "Do I gain life quality by working hard convinceing others of my own choices?". no, it makes you frustrated - becasue everybody tries to do it.

well thats why people has different opinions i suppose.

i don't care who wins
i don't care who will have a monopoly in the future

i only care for competition on the console/video game market ... why? because that's why everything is less expensive than in the post. because2 thats why prodcuts will be better, because3 thats why a brand wont be able to dominate the market like microsoft does on the os market!

PS3 WINS! o.o But yeah, I could care less who wins. If I have the money I'll buy all three systems. Whichever gives me the most enjoyment wins in my book xD

Really good post Supino.

I grew out of all that fanboy stuff I guess I've been lucky to have owned a good spread of machines and appreciated them all although obviously had my favourites amongst those. eg I always preferred Nintendo consoles over Sega.

IMO the word fanboy refers more to the types that inhabit forums, frequently post flame bait, don't play a system or a game but still feel the need to post useless critique in the hope that someone will bite and in the case of game/system fanboys they generally don't have a broader appreciation of gaming as a whole - they limit themselves to only specific genres/systems. Its maybe the company that I keep but I find that in conversations outside of the internet (even on MSN I guess) its very hard to lable someone a fanboy because due to the direct nature of a spoken conversation its possible to get the full picture and perhaps get a softer opinion rather than words posted on a random forum from some anonymous person, words that can so easily be misinterpreted.

Reading through your post it reminded me of a visit to the barbers years back, in discussion with a typically chatty, very wise and slightly aged barber we got onto the topic of football. When asked what team the man supported he shrugged and said "I don't support any team, I support myself". Thats kind of how I feel now, there are upteen more important things in life to argue, debate over and express support in favour of. Im not being paid to promote MS, Sony, Nintendo so why should I feel obliged to defend them everytime someone posts a negative remark - I firmly believe that people who can't let another persons comments go as an opinion without feeling the need to rebuff it and provide evidence that in their superior opinion the other person is wrong, have there own little insecurites in (real) life to deal with. You understand my post and I agree with you 100%, StarShine. I like people like yourself that express themself in a forums like in a real life conversation. People that doesn't hide behind theyr anonymity, but are themselfs.

Thats proof of self insight - the most important quality for haveing a rewarding conversation with others.

haha jonels Razz

@Supino The feelings mutual and yeah totally, sidetracking slightly as an example whats to gain from logging onto an anonymous forum and saying that you work in a high profile job and earn big bucks when your really struggling like alot of people just grinding there way through a 40 hour week to pay the mortgage and support the family (or even not working at all) - nothing to be embarrassed about earning an honest living but it must be completely humiliating to have such a poor degree of self respect that a person can't even talk openly and honestly about themselves.

The only truth that people who log onto forums and just make up stuff to sustain some form of almighty internet persona have is that there slowly but surely dying inside.

what i personally cant understand is why some people get overexcited if a game only comes to ONE console exclusively? who cares?
