Everytime I try to do some school-projects using the information I find at Wikipedia, I always end up browsing other articles :/ I hate it. I just keep on reading down the main article, find a link and click it, then click the next random word etc etc until I end up reading something that hasn't got anything to do with my original goal.
Wikipedia is a curse. But god I love it...

If you reference wiki at the end of a project at my university they take off a massive amount of marks. Because anyone can put information up there and it isn't necessarily 100% accurate.
It's good for reading up on a subject, but when it comes to specifics I don't find it that useful.

Seems like you are studying some artsy-fartsy crap then. At my university - RIOT, they encourage the use, especially in the natural science department. Professors often reference wikipedia themselves as reading material.

I think everyone is on the same page -- you need to use primary sources when in university.
This was my holy grail while in school, and I imagine it would be the same for anyone studying life sciences ...

Say what you want to say about the USA's foreign policy ... but when it comes to providing research resources, they are unmatched in the world.

Thankyou, at least some people realise how it actually works at university. I frequently use PubMed aswell.
PoorLeno, you're talking shit. I've just finished my second year of molecular biology so I know what i'm talking about. In my university they actually encourage you to find your own primary sources, not just reference some publically editable encyclopedia. They're preparing you for a real publication/work environment, I don't know what they're doing at your uni.
