quick questuion - is it possible to install an official patch on a game rip by tweaking the registry? if yes, then how can i apply the 1.52 patch to civilization 4 rip by spitfire?

you shouldn't
rips are drastically altered from their original full form
most patches would either not install or completely fuck the installation up
take a backup a try
you should really get a proper full cd/dvd version of it though

Know which files are checked and get them from your buddy. I think I have this game. But better get the iso, it wont be hard coz the game is popular.

sometimes they do, depending on what is patched. most rips have just audio and video ripped, and i think i never heard of a patch that altered the audio or video

if you're on dialup or somesuch, it would just be easier to go out and buy it
if not, there's no reason not to get a full image release
