The.Hills.Have.Eyes.UNRATED.DVDRip.XviD-DoNE
- Directed by: Alexandre Aja
- Movie Website Here
- Studio: Fox Searchlight Pictures
- Dvd Review: Here
- Clips: Movieweb
- Genre: Horror
- Starring:
Quote: | Desmond Askew, Ted Levine, Tom Bower, Aaron Stanford, Robert Joy, Vinessa Shaw , Kathleen Quinlan, Billy Drago, Michael Bailey Smith, Dan Byrd, Emilie de Ravin
|
- Plot:
Quote: | In the desert of New Mexico, the U.S. Government conducted atomic tests during the 1950s. A small group of people refused to leave their homes despite the urging of the government, and were caught in the nuclear explosions. Their descendants - a horrible, hideous band of mutated sub-humans - has survived to the present day. Just over a half-century later, an all-American family looking for a shortcut to California for a holiday is directed down a back road that is quite literally a dead end. When their vehicle's tires blow, what seems like an unfortunate accident becomes a horrifying nightmare - it was actually a trap! One at a time, these horrible sub-humans emerge from their hiding places to torture & kill the family. However, some of them - and their pets - strike back at their tormentors, and only one group will survive... |
- Special Notes:
Quote: | Now let's get down to brass tacks. The main reason you're reading this review is because of one word on the DVD's cover: Unrated. It's been said that almost eight minutes were cut from Hills to secure an R rating for the film. The good news? Those minutes are back, and they are brutal. There's no extra added exposition, just more violence. I'm not just talking added gore either. We get that coupled with some really mean-spirited torture. This version of The Hills Have Eyes is likely to be one of the most sadistic films to come along in quite some time. It's great to see it as it was meant to be seen. Thank god for DVD!"

Was waiting for this one going to see this torrmorow love horror and gore!

The plot sounds similar to wrong turn, how original.

I bet these 3 additional minutes are a prolonged rape scene, so i m not dloading this.
That rape scene pretty much ruined the movie for me, I was watching it with my gf and that
part made me feel just too awkward.

Well if it made you feel awkward and upset then I'm guessing it accomplished what it was trying to do.

I guess so, but its not a though provoking movie or anything, its supposed to be just a stupid horror flick, the ones you go to on a date, so that scene was pretty much outta place.
There is a difference between shocking/provoking and downright tasteless.

The Rapescene isn´t that graphic, you can´t see any nude stuff or anything like that. The "burning father" is far more chocking than the rape in that sense.

Horror movies are about tension and shock. The Hills Have Eyes 2006 (as far as I've read) fulfilled that. Wes Craven is superb when writing films like these.

Just finished watching it. Not a bad movie but the rape scene was just expendable and i don't see the use of putting that in that sort of flicks. That and the freak sucking the milk out of the mothers breats while holding the kid at gunpoint, that was just sick...
The rest of the movie is an average gore movie, no dialogues, a whole lot of blood and that's about it.
I can stomach a lot of gore and blood, but the rape and milksucking scenes where just awfull.
This turned the movie from an enjoyable horror/gore flick into something digusting...
Spoiler: | really hoped to see them resqued at the end. usually i hate those hollywood happy ends but if there's one movie where the charachters really deserved it and didn't get, it would be this movie. |

I am really glad I saw this thread because I wanted to see this one. I will still grab it but I will leave the room for the rape scene or mute it and close my eyes. It will probably make me sick if I watch it.
Someone said it wasn't that graphic and mentioned there wasn't a lot of nudity in the scene. Nudity doesn't make something graphic IMO. It's the psycological terror behind the scene that make it disturbing.

lol ... so the rape is bad but sticking a pick-axe through a guys head is perfectly acceptable for a date? |
Its a horror movie so violence is expected, but not a tasteless rape scene,
and the character who was axed was one of the abominations anyway so who gives a shit

i saw the unrated version yesterday, now my troubles are so far away
i really liked it, and i think the "rape scene" was very important for the movie.
especially because it's happening while BiG BoB is burning like a x-mas tree
Spoiler: |
great scene: mommy hears her daughter being fucked by some evil mutant, paralyzed.
slowly picking up a boulder, slooooow ...
DAMN! she knows what's going on... possibly she's been raped too (when she was a Hippie-Chick back in the 60's)
pretty ugly scene, but pretty good too.
-I liked the revenge of the Dog... sooo Disney
-The showdown between Lizzard and Pretty-Boy-Dougie was kinda lame IMHO
-Little Red Riding Ruby was still too cute... makes her the only flawless character
|
and hey! that's sick + disgusting:

I've seen only the first 45 minutes of it, and I got to say that it seems a little boring, I liked Saw and Saw 2 a lot, but Hostel is a piece of trash, it's one of the most predictable movies I've seen lately, by the time they found that other guy with the jacket in the "museum" I've already knew what the movie was all about, that Svetlana was preety hot tough, I think she was the reason I've seen the movie until the end.
as for The Hills have Eyes, I will see how it ends, it might suprise me, but so far is a extremly boring movie.

Alexandre Aja is now IMO the master of a horror in these years... With this movie and Haute Tension (2003) he has proven how well a horror should be directed.

This isn't the type of movie which has gore from the very beginning. The first 45 minutes sets the scene, and allows characterisation.
Are you the type of person who was watching invasion thinking "When are the monsters going to start killing everone!!1!11"

Good point AnimalMommy!
"Wolf Creek" is another good example, 1st hour... meet the characters..
then... say goodbye
Bertolucci meets Romero. I like it!
