You need to try Knytt Stories. Once you're done with the official maps, check out the forums for dozens of user-created levels.

Wow. Cortex Command looks really cool.
Indie is where it's at.

Want cool ideas and new game play? Check out indie games.
Its a crying shame games like Dwarf Fortress and Cortex Command don't have a big budget (or extremely rich people) working on them.
Im going to buy Cortex Command . That's right up my alley.

I bought Cortex Command a while ago. Had some great fun with my brother. Just too bad that there's no online play (and most likely never will be). There are alot of mods for it too, just check the official forums. Tons of new weapons, vehicles and such.

Ports of Call, you manage a global shipping company and you can steer the ships yourself if you want. It's basically been in development since the days of the Amiga.

Open Transport Tycoon Deluxe While it requires the original game library files it's another fun trading and building game.

Vega Strike This game is also open source and is being actively developed, it's akin to old Elite games, featuring amongst others space to planetary transitions. You can trade, fight, bounty hunt etc.

UFO Alien Invasion Yet another open source game, this is based on the Quake II engine and is a clone of the old X-Com games, it's being actively developed and version 2.3 will come out very soon.

S.C.O.U.R.G.E This game is a nethack clone with a 3d engine and features most of the features many people enjoy from roguelike games.

You can still get a free copy of Lugaru probably not for much longer though.
It's a fun and violent game, with rabbits, for Windows, OSX and Linux.

Oh yeah, forgot all about that game. It's a great game though, fun to play with someone else.
