Star Trek: Legacy is due out in SEPTEMBER and has not even hit alpha yet - but is 'on track and on time' according to the devs. I HIGHLY doubt that Flight Simulator is at ALPHA let alone BETA testing.

yes its coming out with vista about 2 months ago (due to the nature of my day job) i went to an NDA workshop and they demoed some directx 10 alpha hardware stuff and they showed the cloud weather system off for the next flight sim looked impressive. We asked the devs when its due to come out and they said around the time the first vista/ directx 10 hardware ships prolly Q1 2007 maybe Q2 if there's any more delays

Well Vista is comming Q1 2007, but FSX is comming December 2006. Trust me on this one. I know. Can't revieal more than that at present time.
That is ofcourse if beta testing isn't running into any show stopping bugs, but so far it's looking good.

Considering Ive been beta testing beta1 to RC the past 4 fs releases I think I got a pretty good idea about the testing phase of fs and past experience with it.
MS have always spend quite a bit of time for beta testing of fs. This is a huge program. And many aspects are taken into account in beta testing. Addon developers etc etc, so it sure havn't become any easier to test fs with the years.

This is a simulator.... it's not about WWII or WWIII.
If it's not your cup of tea, then leave it...

Theres enough of us plane-fanatics who love FS. I have been simming since the first FS, it's all about realism and doing what you want to do, except bombing WTC or shooting the AI down

Several developer studios and publishers have reported financial difficulties and layoffs or even closed smaller branches. (EA for example.)

Now it would appear that Microsoft has "axed" the Flight Simulator studio.

Although the serie might still continue somehow.

It really, really sucks seeing ACES go, not just because of Flight Sim, but also because of Train Sim 2.

They've been teasing fans with Train Sim 2 for nearly two years, and it was scheduled to finally come out late this year, but now all that waiting was for nothing. And really, we've been waiting much longer than that, seeing as how this is the second time TS2 has gone into production; the original version of TS2 was in development by Kuju, who eventually transformed their work into the EA-published Rail Simulator).

It seems that Microsoft just can't go a year without shutting down at least one of their great studios (Digital Anvil in 2006, FASA in 2007, Ensemble in 2008, and now ACES this year). I wonder how long Lionhead and Rare have left before they get the axe?

Apparently, FSX is going to be released on steam.

http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2014/07/10/microsoft-flight-sim-x-steam-train-simulator/

If they move the MP to steamworks, and keep their dlcing ways to their own new game, I'll be a happy pilot. This is one thing I'd love to have in my library, and couldn't give a single toss about what they'll develop with Flight's engine.

I saw this as well.

But I don't know what to think about this.
Especially when they have already done 2,903.21€ worth of DLCs for their Train Simulator game.
Not to mention most of these DLC are just above mediocre...

But of course I wan't so badly an actual FSX sequel, Flight Simulator 2015 ? Here is my money. Very Happy
As long as it stay away from "Flight" f2p crap.

I had to repost this FSX trailer :

I have zero confidence that they won't fuck it up royally with their dlcs. But if they ONLY port FSX to steam and don't do anything else to it, it will be the best thing I'll ever buy there. After that they are free to rape the new installment all they like.

They also have a license to produce additional games using "microsoft technologies." I have the utmost confidence they will fuck everything up Smile

I'll just stick with Prepar3d and X-plane. It'll be interesting to see how the Rift integration works in Prepar3d...
