Can anyone reccomend a decent dance mat type game I can download for the girlfriend (FYI, jokes about me using it will result in a spanking then a big fat ban Razz).. ? There seems to have been a scene release of DDR in 2000, but that was so bloody long ago.. How about freeware type dancing games?

Stepmania
there are links to torrents on the site or one of the fan sites that has the songs.

Buy a PS2 to USB connector if you don't have a mat, and get a $20 madcatz mat from EB games.
solved.

Ahhh.. for some stupid reason I didnt think of a USB to PS2 converter, do they work ok on a dance mat?

The girlfriend wants a certain mat, so that will help with the selection process, thanks for the info.

It's allways "girlfriend" or "a friend of mine", but anyways i've "heard" that stepmania is good for this kind of perversion.

I used to play some stepmania, with keyboard. It´s free, easy and good, so my suggestion is Stepmania Wink Theres also an xbox-port.

Do not grab the radio shack one. The radio shack one has an issue where it maps the dance pad toa joystick and not a gamepad. Thus you can't hit combos like up/down and left/right together as a joystick can't do that.

Goto the stepmania website they cover a wide variety of converters you can buy and if there are any known issues with them.

Mine is an EMS brand. I got it online from a place I think int montana. I'll see if I can dig up the receipt for it. $15 works great.

Stepmania.com, its free and its better than any DDR game Konami ever released. You'll have to look for some good torrents that will provide ya a nice bunch of songs.

search your hardware stash if you threw it there when you got your mouse
or did you want it the other way around?

The one I got at radioshack last november-ish was a sector 7 brand. It doesn't support dance pads.

I don't buy them every week or anything, so if they've gotten new ones in ( that was the only one they sold when I bought it) I never saw them. It would be nice if they did, because no one else really sells them, and I had no choice but to buy it online.

i got it like 2 years ago and supports the dance pads just fine. since it had a config menu specifically for dance pads among other things.

Its a sector 7 isn't it? Its a different model than the one I got from them, but looks identical (different colors). When I picked this up last november (here in Canada) I was told it was the only one they sold, and when I checked the model on the stepmania site its a known issue with it. I wouldn't blindly walk in and pick one up from them though. Not without double checking. They also have a couple on the stepmania site that claim to work with dancepads but don't (so you can't always trust the box).

Yup it did, but my sector 7 doesn't support vibration and it doesn't support dance pads, they look identical but mine is a different color body is grey and that triangle shape is black with a blue spot on it, so obviously different models.

Quite possibly. At the time I'd bought it, I'd seen many people on a couple of the stepmania forums saying stay away from Radioshack, so that one you got may no longer be available at all radioshacks or something. Which it says on the product page
" Online: Not available
Quantities are limited,"

That's nice what do you want a cookie?
The point is when I purchased it radio shack sold no others according to them and the forums around stepmania had several threads about people getting burned by adapters they got at radio shack.
