  • Official web page: Click here
  • Developer: Iron Lore
  • Genre: RPG
  • Release date: Spring 2006
  • Story/Description:
    Quote:

From the co-creator of Age of Empires, Brian Sullivan, comes an all-new action role-playing game set in the mythical worlds of ancient Greece and Egypt. Amazing visuals and fast-action gameplay deliver a true cinematic gaming experience. Lush ancient world settings crafted in near-photo realistic detail provide the player with an extraordinary canvas on which to set forth on an epic quest of the ultimate good versus evil.

The Titans, gods before the gods, have escaped from their eternal prison to wreak havoc on the world. In this titanic struggle between old and new gods it is the heroes of humankind who will ultimately determine the fate of all existence. The player quests throughout the ancient world in a race to uncover the secrets needed to once again imprison these ancient gods. Journeying to fabled locations such as the Parthenon, the maze at Knossos, the Great Pyramids, and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the player will have to overcome terrifying monsters and mythical beasts.

A flexible class system allows almost limitless ways for the player to develop their character. Skills can be customized in many ways, and never become obsolete. With addictive, fast action gameplay and tons of unique loot, epic gaming has never been so good.

Brave the trials of Titan Quest alone or bring a group of friends to share the glory while playing through the thrilling story-driven campaign.

  • Multiplayer: Yes

    Quote:

you will be able to play the campaign in both single-player and cooperative multiplayer. And you can switch between the two, so you can start a campaign in single-player and then play portions of it in co-op with your friends. But if your friends aren't around you can go back to playing solo.

Some quotes from the preview from gamespot:
Quote:

85 different monster types with different variations for each monster type
There will be more than 1,000 unique items in the game, as well as randomly generated loot
When you create a new character, you choose a gender and a name, and then select two distinctive skills that will determine your character's class. As there are eight skills to choose from, there are approximately 20 different classes in the game, which should provide lots of replayability
There will be a powerful editor. The editor will be easy to use.
The 3D graphics are bright, colorful, and beautiful, in contrast to many of the "dark" role-playing games on the market.
We saw the hero battle up to a dozen monsters at once, and bodies went flying, thanks to the slightly exagerrated rag-doll physics system

I must say...the screens look pretty decent.

Good gfx don't make a good game though...

Looks nice. I wouldn't mind a game like Diablo. No rpg's at all right now, so any game will do.

Looks very interesting, thanks for the heads up.
Kinda strange though that the guy was launching fireballs while dual wielding shortswords though, no? Hope they implement a pure caster class.

For it to be successful it must have:
1. Randomly generated areas.
2. An overabundance of randomly generated loot goodies.
3. Progressive difficulty levels unlocked after beating the previous one.

It's hard to touch something as well known and addictive as the Diablo franchise, but at least graphically its surpassed it (albeit thats not very hard to do these days hehe).

I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Randomly generated area are not absolutly needed, I prefer highly detailled/desgined terrain than medium quality generated one.

The game look good, GFX from the trailer are amazing. Physics seem well integrated (even if it look strange that he shoot arrow to monsters in front of a cliff just to show that off). Seem to have good spells too.

One problem is the gameplay seem to be a bit choppy.. don't know about you but monsters seem to walk strangly and attacks really seem to be processed individually one after the other. Maybe it's just an illusion I got but I think it might be a bit more fluid

Nothing.Remotely.Close.To.Diablo.

If you want to say EVERY point and click is like diablo, fine, but I don't. Is dungeon siege like diablo? No, its a point in click. The only game that will ever really be like diablo and diablo II is diablo III. Though I am personally not a huge fan of the series anymore, I was years ago.

I don't like the fact that some things are out of proportions. For instance, the tiles on the floors in many screenshots are überhuge, while the monsters and players are very small. Looks really weird.

It´s the same as diablo, but with make-up, which is not bad at all, gfx looks way better than any haack & slash game nowadays and if gameplay is similar, it will be a success, im buying this one for sure.
Maybe some diablo fans get pissed off just because it was the first well done rpg, but hey... diablo its just an hack & slash arcade game, who would dare to say that its rpg elements are way too difficult to understand? if you ask me, i would take diablo and diablo 2 as an arcade game, nothing complicated in it. I mean... you speak as if diablo wasnt a point and click rpg.

Of course, hardcore d2 lod players will popup and say "u dont know shit..." but its ok, ive played on bnet too, and i cant say its not nice, but everyone is expecting some diablo killer, after 5 or 6 years, ppl tend to get bored and need new games, even when they are similar, it changes everything.
Sacred was a complete mess, full of bugs, lets hope titan´s quest can do something, because every time we wish something like this title to be good, it ends being another diablo wannabe and it passes without notice.

if you think diablo is an RPG just go pack up your computer.

Just because you give something a sword and a level system, it doesn't make it an RPG.

Jeez, here we go again, some one that could not answer the teachers question last week and is taking it out here. Frigging kids! Go back to school and do your home work man, then you don't have to take out your aggravation here. Does it really matter if one guy called Diablo an RPG...cause it is an RPG! even if it wasn't, why would you go on like a looser and try to make him look bad here. Does it make you feel big and bad, or what? Go back to school kiddo...and do your homework, you will feel better afterwords.

We should all know this :
A role-playing game (RPG) is a type of game in which players assume the roles of characters and collaboratively create narratives. Gameplay progresses according to a predetermined system of rules and guidelines, within which players may improvise freely. Players choices shape the direction and outcome of role-playing games.

Role-playing games are typically more collaborative and social than competitive. A typical role-playing game unites its participants into a single team that adventures as a group. A role-playing game rarely has winners or losers. This makes role-playing games fundamentally different from board games, card games, sports and most other types of games. Like novels or films, role-playing games appeal because they engage the imagination.

Computer games incorporating gameplay mechanics from role-playing games are referred to as computer role-playing games, or CRPGs. Due to the popularity of CRPGs, the terms "role-playing game" and "RPG" have both to some degree been co-opted by the computer gaming industry; as a result, traditional non-digital pastimes of this sort are increasingly being referred to as pen and paper role-playing games (PnP RPG or PPRPG) or tabletop role-playing games (TTRPG), though neither pen and paper nor a table are strictly necessary. A variant of the roleplaying games played with computer or around a table is the live action roleplaying game (LARP).

Besides i did actually say diablo its considered an rpg, but i dont take it as such. On the other hand and im not trying to make feel him feel bad, i just dont like being insulted or being looked down by guys like him and you, u think that because u got a crappy avatar im gonna go off with my tail beetwen my legs?

Edit: the same site which had the Gold info says 30th of June now...well well.
