Anyone else looking forward to this ? It's release should be in a few days 06/06/06

Maybe a PSP owner could enlighten me on the quality of the game ?

its very good. But if you have GTA3 already don't expect much new things in this one. The story is new yes but also very short. And now you have bikes that you didnt had in gta3 Smile

but its gonna be 30$ or 30euro... so mybe worth it if you want to complete your collection.

Short but good then.. oh well at least it should keep me happy for a while, I love to milk every last bit of gameplay out of GTA games as I'm completely obsessed.

Now I'm hoping for an early release... today would be good Very Happy

hmm, i didnt even know this was gonna be on PS2, it seems like it should be the other way around tho (PS2 ported to PSP, not PSP ported to PS2). So is it the same location and map size as GTA3? Gonna be hard to get used to after the immense size of San Andreas.

Thx jonels, I was just talking about this on another thread. Think i'll pick it up on account of the fact that its so cheap, im gonna wait for proper reviews though found it slightly dissapointing to read that the visuals haven't been bumped upto PS2 standards but as with all the GTA titles gameplays the keyword. I can tell you that it is just from owning the PSP version.

Story = Great
Weapons = sex
Comedy = same as every other gta (fucking owns)
Graphics = gay

It's worth adding to your collection if you're a big GTA fan ( I just hope they port it to pc)
--------------------------------------------

How are the graphics on the PS2 version?

23x50? Sounds kinda small, but it being a PSP to PS2 port, it does sound kinda right. Razz Hopefully it'll be any good. I need something else to play besides Shadow Hearts 3. Smile

Wow it's so good to drive Liberty again, I have not done any missions yet but have been driving around checking the old haunts and seeing what's different... and it feels really good.

The frame-rate does grind a bit in places and the music so far is quite shit ... but if you are a GTA fan you just won't care and will find you're self grinning from ear to ear.

Not managed to get a prossie yet, they just ignore me when I'm tooting my horn.

..back to the game

Thanks for the mini review, didn't really need much coaxing to buy this one.

I think when people play the title and slate it for being graphically not up to scratch and a port there missing the point slightly - its a chance for those of us that don't have a PSP to experience another GTA game and its also being released at a budget price point, I see it retailing for as low as £14.99, which surely represents great value for money.

I don't hold up much hope of it being ported to the PC or Xbox at least not in the form of a vastly improved game which takes advantage of the hardware, they could already have done that with the PS2 version. Time will tell I suppose. Smile

Yep despite the sluggish frame rate this is definately the best game I have played this year. It's totally wicked Twisted Evil

"best game I have played this year" Razz

OK, OK im sold $$$$$.....preordered it today along with one of those nice looking clip on mini TFT screens with the speakers - I figured if the game looks rough on a largescreen TV it'll be better when its played on a smaller screen thats somewhere near the size of a PSP screen. Kind of like when you play a low res video stretched to full screen on a largescreen TV it'll look rough, but when you play the video in its windowed 1/1 size it looks way better (if that makes any sense).

I'll chip in my review at the end of the week, thanks for the opinions fellas. Wink

Its a great game and you dont need good graphics for it to be a good game Wink... I play Atari ST / Amiga Games and they are poor graphics compaired to todays games but they are still Great fun!!

already own this on the PSP so think I will wait till it hits £5 in the store to add it to my collection Wink

Yep, played a couple of hours of it myself and although it isn't my favourite GTA which came as no surprise, I was still pretty impressed with how ambitious the game is for a handheld title and as others said it is undeniably GTA - haven't played through nearly enough of the game or really got into the story to give a solid rating but definetly don't regret spending money on the game at the price. Haven't tryed the game on my largescreen TV yet but visually the game doesn't look bad on the little clip on TFT screen that I purchased at the same time as the game.

Its GTA FFS, majority of fans will lap it up. Razz

I am little desapointed... It is a shame that more efforts have not been put in the port. OK it is relatively cheap but one would expect to have graphics and frame rate, at least, up to par with GTA3. It is not that I care that much about GFX but when it comes to the point it hampers the gameplay, it is starting to be annoying.
Anyway, I am still happy to play more GTA, as many other players, and Rockstar is capitalizing BADLY on that. Oh and the new punjabi (?feel free to correct/flame?) radio station is great!
