Quote: | Fox and Ridley Scott are getting closer to returning to space as Jack Paglen (“Transcendence”) is in talks to write the follow-up to last year’s sci-fi blockbuster, “Prometheus.”
Scott will produce again through his Scott Free banner though it’s unknown at this time if he will direct. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are also expected to return.
Plot details are still be worked out but Scott has said in interviews that while the first “Prometheus” had several elements linking it to the “Alien” franchise, this latest installment will feel more like its own film.
Despite not having a greenlight, the sci-fi movie’s new screenwriter is a good sign for a project Fox has been wary of committing to even though the last installment, written by Jon Spaihts and Damon Lindelof, made more than $400 million worldwide.
For Paglen, the film marks his second high-profile project following Wally Pfister and Johnny Depp’s sci-fi thriller “Transcendence,” which opens next April.
He is repped by ICM Partners and Madhouse Entertainment. |

I guess, never had any issues with that myself. Didn't Ridley say that it wasn't going to be an Alien movie. After i read that i stopped thinking about the movie in that context.
Whatever, the potential is clearly there for a great sequel to Prometheus at any rate.

The movie also sucked because of shallow and retarded characters (some of them) and "some" plotholes.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

I hope they acknowledge all the previous mistakes, Prometheus had such an enormous potential..completely ruined by poor writing, dull characters and holes, holes everywhere. At least I won't get hyped this time, which is positive.

It was decent, it's not like we get too many of those type of movies :/ It was waaaaaay better than that The Thing prequel, for example.. Hopefully it will be at least as decent as the first..

actually i liked that it was tied in, i think it helps give the story universe some 'weight' by saying these stories are consistent and all happen within it.
what i DIDN'T like, was the script and how it was handled... some bits were so utterly dumb, and it dragged the movie down.

One must have been seriously brain-injured to have loved Promethesh*t after the abortion of logic and massive script-writing fail that flick had or was one simply in it for the pew-pew moments? Holy Thank Gawd I didn't pay for that trite-whore of "sci-sigh"!

Lindelof just fixed up the script and punched it up a bit. He didn't come up with the original story. He's prolly to blame for adding pseudo religious stuff to fill the main plot gaps.

Hopefully this time they won't give away the entire movie in the trailer, or butcher unrelated scenes together in the editing room.

Used to be that Ridley Scott would rewrite the scripts. But alas, that old bugger is in just for the cash now.

Haha, yep the problem with the trailers was...they were too good. Not only they showed the best parts of the movie, but the great editing made them incredibly fascinating, they tricked the poor viewer into thinking "omg the atmosphere, so much stuff going on" when in fact the rest of the movie was just dull dialogues and sceneries for the eyes.

Quote: | Prometheus 2 has a new writer and will, reportedly, be the mystery Ridley Scott film 20th Century Fox recently dated for March 4, 2016. Michael Green, the writer of Green Lantern and the new Blade Runner film, has been brought on to rewrite Jack Paglen‘s original draft. Reportedly, the story will feature multiple versions of Michael Fassbender‘s android David. |

Seriously, what concerns me more is that the guy who wrote Green Lantern is writing the new Blade Runner.
I dont want a new Blade Runner. The only Blade Runner I accept next to the movie is the PC Adventure Game.
edit: Also, Prometheus was a disappointement. Visually grand, plot and characters worse than 90s trash.

+10000 sabin!
So true! Prometheus was terrible in every aspect, minus the CGI, which was good. Such a waste of Fassbender The trailers released before the film were so great but the movies plot had more holes than swiss cheese, the writing was abysmal, the characters were 1D and stupid, the twists were no twists and it felt overall lazy. Ridley does not necessarily stand for quality. His equally shit robin hood is proof of that...

Sorry but this movie takes itself serious and I'll rate it on it's promise. Prometheus had terrible and lazy writing all over. Nothing made sense and nothing was fun, because everything onscreen was just an insult to the viewer.
The only person that I know personally that likes Prometheus (and he even calls it a great movie) is my brother, better known as king derp the third, who rates Skyline with 9/10 ...
Star Trek (remake no2) for example also has plotholes, but it is aimed to be fun and loud, so I won't care about such stuff because the ride is fun.
