1st no requests! Read the damn rules! 2nd, the movie isn't even out yet.
back to topic: I watched the trailer on iTunes a month ago and the movie really looks promising. The games really scared the shit out of me especially the aliens. The previous movies also were pretty good.

I hope i'm wrong - but i for one don't enjoy your optimism for the film being good.
1) There has been zero hype for the film - it's out in 3 days.Which like Jurassic park 3 - leads me to think eventhe studio kows this is a lame release.
2) Unknown cast
3) They are trying to squeeze the last drop of blood from the Alien and Predator franchise.
4) Alien 1 and 2, and Predator 1 were the only good films in the series.
This will be a specail fx film only - plot will be paper thin. Almost all humnas will die in the first 7 minutes and yet the last 3 will somhow be able to make it to the very end.
Nothing to see here people - it's all been done before.

1) Why hype a movie that is already known about by most of the demographic that will see it? If its good, then word of mouth will help it sell and it'll continue to do well.
2) Were the aliens/predator movies ever really known for their stellar casts? Pretty much Predator had Arnold, Alien had Signorney Weaver. Some of the films had more talent than others, like Aliens with people like Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn, or Resurrection with Winona Ryder and Ron Perlman, but we're still not talking about huge box office names. Other than that the movies have been more about the aliens/predators.
3) Actually this was an idea that deserved to be made into a movie. I have no clue if this will be a good film, but at least the premise of a race of alien hunters fighting against a race of warrior alien killing machines fits. Who knows, maybe the Predators release the Aliens on worlds and hunt them for sport. The AVP games were successful also, so I have a feeling that the studio is counting on a lot of the AVP fans to show up.
4) I would agree but I thought Alien: Resurrection was a pretty good film also. Not up to the level of Aliens or Alien, but far superior to Alien 3 or Predator 2. Danny Glover is simply no match for a Predator.
You're right though that it will be a movie very heavy on special effects. This is the director from Resident Evil and Mortal Kombat, so he knows how to take paper-thin plots and still make them fairly good on the big screen.

I wasnt sure if they were some sorts of aliens just called predators or just robots, but now I think I know ; )

i cant wait for this, but im sure i will be dissapointed. remember Freddy vs Jason. man I was a huge Friday the 13th fan. but that movie sucked.

Just wondering about what order you guys like the movies. Here's mine for Alien (only saw the first Predator)
Alien
Aliens
Alien 3
Alien: Resurrection
I liked the first 3 and thought that Resurrection sucked. It didn't feel like an Alien movie and just felt like I was watching some sci-fi horror movie. I heard a lot of people say how Alien 3 was bad but I didn't think it was. Also keep in mind I saw the Special Editions/Director's Cuts of the movies, not the theatrical.

Nice response - i'm sorry my post was very lazy - as is my reply here - I always tend to write well after I should be in bed.
But just to say that i agree - it has the grounding to be a killer flick - but it has all the signs of a cheap thrill ride, sold on two established brand names - again Terminator 3 and Jurassic Park 3 are good examples of films where you knew the studios didn't belive in their producvt....i'm guessing this will be the same-----I really hope i'm wrong. Both those films weren't bad - they just weren't good either.
I'll be watching rottentomatoes.com over he next day or so, but my prediction.....40% positive feedback at most.
I'll be more than happy to eat humble pie - and if the reviews are good - i'll be lining up the first day it's out here is Oz.

No it wasn't a flop as such - but it was very understated. Out without much fanfare - and off to video in no time flat. Not a flop - but compared to the success of T1 and T2 it was - yes.
