Hi guys. Basically, I have a wireless router, a laptop, and a xbox 360. I want to use Internet Connection Sharing to share the internet connection from my laptop to the xbox 360. The devices are cabled as follows:
ROUTER <==WIRELESS CONNECTION==> LAPTOP <==WIRED CROSSOVER CABLE==> XBOX 360
However, i'm having some problems! It's not finding the DNS servers. The full rundown of my settings is below - if any of you guys are good with this then please do help! If you know somewhere good to ask this, please also share!
The Wireless Router has DHCP ENABLED
The Wireless Router has an IP address of 192.168.123.254
The WAN Card on the laptop has an automatically assigned IP address of 192.168.123.171
The WAN Card on the laptop has also automatically got the DNS Servers 194.168.4.100 / 192.168.123.254
The WAN Card on the laptop has also automatically got the DHCP server 192.168.123.254
The LAN Card on the laptop has Internet Connection Sharing ENABLED.
The LAN Card on the laptop has a manually defined IP Address of 192.168.123.25
The LAN Card on the laptop has manually defined DNS Servers 194.168.4.100 / 192.168.123.254
The LAN Card on the laptop does NOT have a default gateway defined
The Xbox 360 has a manually configured IP Address of 192.168.123.5
The Xbox 360 has a manually configured Gateway of 192.168.123.25
The Xbox 360 has manually configured DNS Servers 194.168.4.100 / 192.168.123.254
My laptop DOES have internet access.
Now, when I run the Xbox Live connection test, the xbox states that the IP Address is CONFIRMED, however it FAILS on the DNS test.
When I go to further information, i get the following detailed error:
