I've had this problem recently with a couple of big sets of files I've downloaded, PAR files say everything is fine, but when I run the SFV checker it finds problems in a couple of files. If I try and extract the files, it fails. Is there a reason why this would happen? I thought the whole point of PAR files was to find errors and fix them, but apparently not. So do I just have to hope that someone reposts the broken files? Or is there another fix for this problem?

sounds like the par set is made from the incomplete files, which means no possible repair with those pars. Watch for a fixed par set and pray it's not some silly repack you dl/ed.
