Grab your text books, strap on your helmet, and experience the true year-round passion of college football with NCAA Football 07.

Comments

The deeper and arguably better of the EA American Football games returns. Xbox360 version is undeniably where its at in terms of visuals but its nice to see us old Xbox users not forgotten about in the rush to sell next gen units and developers needs to test the waters developing games for the new system. Anyway looks great if your a fan of the series or American Football in general - I'll be giving Campus Legend mode a go later on. Smile

NRL Rugby League 2 was also released (by Precision I think) on the 13th for anyone that didn't notice it and prefers Rugby in favour of American Football - haven't tryed it yet but generally find Rugby games to be skippable.

Yeah, I thought the thread title would have been enough to avoid any confusion NCAA Football 07 NTSC - SKY......NTSC as in the region, SKY as in the release group?.

I'll be sure to write NCAA Football 07 NTSC - SKY ITS OUT!!!! next time Razz

Seriously though let us know what you think of this title, im working tomorrow so will probably give gaming and this game a miss for tonight. I also await hayvis' high brow opinions on this game. Smile

yet another inciteful and engaging post - ever heard the expression "sometimes less is more"? Laughing

@booker21

Just to clear that up there was no malice intended in my reply it was written in jest (I imagine you knew that anyway), I think the post was worded as such to make light of the fact that I genuinely didn't grasp how it couldn't have been a release thread when both the region and release group were in the topic title. ALOT of threadstarters use the same method for naming topics as myself, its the standard over at Isonews (although this site obviously has no ties to that site) and I've never saw it cause any problems in the past on this Nforce subforum.

That trivial issue aside as I said I look forward to hearing your opinions on the game so lets steer the thread down that route. One of the best things about this Console Arena IMO is a small but excellent group of regular users......we get the games, we play the games and we chat about the games and leave the threadcrapping for others on the site.

Cheers Smile

Reg and CRA$H, it seems like the 2 of you are more ignorant than the Americans you are trying to jest at. Obviously you have never played a game of american football, videogame or otherwise.

Strategically, it is most likely too complex for your feeble minds to comprehend, and physically, I'm sure you there is no way you could outrun even the slowest kickers or linemen, nevermind take a hit from a linebacker or safety w/out getting your lights knocked out.

If you're calling amercian football weak because they wear pads and helmets, well, in rugby they don't have 6'8" 300+ lb players either. Show me a rugby game where a 5'6" guy who weighs 160 gets tackled by a guy twice his size and then you can talk.

Enough off-topic for this thread. Go somewhere else if you need to vent.

Anyway, I'm glad this release is early.... just wish I could find it...

Would you not agree though mcmanic that even if you dislike American Football, have no idea of how to play it or the playbooks and don't actively follow the sport that as a videogame its actually pretty entertaining and well done in comparison to Rugby games.

I have to think a long way back to remember a half decent Rugby game probably back to the days of Amiga and in saying that I can't even remember the name of the title plus its was merely half decent - rugby games overall haven't been well done at all IMO.

With American Football on the other hand alot of people really got into the Madden series when they came to the Megadrive and Snes and although there have been a few versions since then which have done little or nothing to advance the series its very much on the right track with the forthcoming games. There has also been ESPN NFL2K5, arguably one of the best sports games ever period. Blitz the League which is pure over the top arcade fun and NFL Street a game which successfully mimicked the format of NBA Street/Jam opting for smaller teams, turbo buttons, small playbooks and special moves.

All of the above had great multiplayer potential and there was something for everyone in amongst all of those games. Im in the UK so sure I like Rugby but I'd be lying if I said that any of the games had done the sport any justice at all. Smile

Well I'm not American but I love American football, especially college football, youv've gotta laugh at those at those who don't understand it so have to trash it.

Its also pretty funny at you people calling it a minority sport then comparing it with a true minority sport like British rugby league, a game played infront of crowds of three or four thousand people in two counties of northern England!!!

Right I'm off to see if I can get the Buckeyes to a national championship game.

What's more funny is that you don't know why they call it the world series. It was named after the "New York World" newspaper, who sponsored the game. It has no Global connetations.

PS. I am an Arsenal season ticket holder, but have to say that the best sporting event that I have ever been to was an NCAA Football game Penn State University vs Minessota University last September. Penn State sell out every game (110,000) even when they are doing badly (allthough they happened to do well last year). I would reccomend anybody to do this once in thier lives as it is a truly awe inspiring experience - these college towns literally rock for 3 days over 1 game.

Don't knock it till you've tried it........

Thanks man. If you are from England or even Europe you can get reasonably priced flights to New York which is then only about a 4-5 hour drive from State College PA. There are really nice bed and breakfasts to stay in that are cheap (we stayed in one in a town called Belfonte), and the game ticket with field parking is only about $50. So all in all it doesn't have to cost a fortune to experience what I believe to be one of the most fun few days you can ever have. Everyone across the pond goes nuts over the NCAA (far more than the Pro game which I've also had the privalige of seeing).

I've gotta agree with your post too hayvis, never been lucky enough to go to a game but even as someone who stays in the UK and casually follows Football, Basketball (and some Hockey) in their college format its so obvious from watching that there spectacular events which surpass the majority of high profile sporting events over here and they literally bring towns to a standstill.

Added to that the sheer quality of college sports in the US makes them worthy of comparison to any pro sports over here.

Anyway, whos played this NCAA game and would care to give a mini review? I haven't had the chance yet so just wondered how it measured up to last years game, whats changed etc. Smile

If you understand American Football you'll probably enjoy watching it or playing the game. As for its popularity, the amount of equipment required to play hurts its spread. Soccer is the most popular sport worldwide because, at its basics, it only requires a ball to play. Even third and fourth world countries can afford a few balls.

Yep. Played it a lot man. It's the best of the entire series. Firstly I always play Dynasty so I don't know about campus legend, but this hasn't changed much from last year. What has improved enourmously is on field. It looks a lot better (they've re-done the crowds and it's as fast and smooth running as NCAA 2004!!!). I never thought they'd bother to get the game play speed right but they have.

The next thing is that the animations etc... not only look a whole lot more realistic, but they actually help the game; for example the running back will automatically go into a move and it will look and play fantastically. EA have totally overhauled the playbooks and you will find totally different looks from different schools; I was playing Michagan and they came out with this really aggressive defence that was just great to play against. The final major thing is the 3rd person camera view on special teams; this makes all special teams close up view so that if you're running the return, you can get blind sided by a defender which is frustrating but a lot of fun. It has also made kick blocking more fun.

Any other questions and I'll be glad to answer. Hope you are well Star Shine and the template looked great.

FFS, if you dont like NFL football, fine...but we dont need or care to know your stance. This is about the game, not if you like or dislike football.

Is the game any good. I love NFL footbal games. The old john maddens football on the genisis was amazing. I used to love Mike Ditkas (Spelling?) Football on PC as well. The football game for 360 though was very disapointing.

Edit. Doh, Should have looked above. TY for the review, gonna try it tonight i think.

No Probs man. Don't blame you for not getting past the flaming. This is as good as American Football gets on console if you ask me.

Both sports are fun to watch and play if you understand them. The fact that you watched, at most, a few games leads me to believe you're no expert on American Football. It would also explain your silly comment about the "FAT people." If you understood their role and their purpose then it might make sense to you. Thin fast people aren't always the best choice.

Thanks, much appreciated and the same to yourself. Read the IGN review the other day which like your own opinion was a pretty positive appraisal of the game concluding with a score in the high 8's - from the brief few hours play that I've had with the game its easy to agree with both those opinions. Smile

Yeah. It's weird how these things work because it is definately a better game than NCAA 2004, and is the best score since then, but didn't score as good or higher; I suppose it's because it's not as ground breaking. I wonder how they are going to improve the series on next gen; caus' at the moment it's gone backwards on the 360!!! I really hope 1) That they introduce the series to all 3 next gen consoles next year and 2) That they complete what seems like a half finished game.
