I never played it after I won the SPL with Hibs without signing one single player.
The CM4 series was crap and I think they made it easier than the earlier ones. The game needs rewritten to make it more realistic. Signing players like Freddy Adu when you are a crap team is just one example of how bad it is.

The serie died after the 2, codemasters are one of the most incompetent developper out there, they can't make any product right for many years... Always buggy piece of crap with average graphics and totally awefull support. I will never buy a codemaster product anymore.

what does codemasters have to do with cm03/04?
back to topic, no I quit playing about 6 months ago. Waiting for "Football manager" to be released...

yeh i still play it, usually play as Spurs in England or Celtic in Scotland, waiting on the transfer deadline so that someone releases a data update so i can play with all new squads, then wait for Football Manager 2005 to come out.

What really pisses me off is the fact that every single CM game can be mastered if you know the "right" tactics and the "right" players to buy. Why don't the cunts at SI actually put some effort into simulating the actual game and implement tactics that work like they do in real life. There has been not one single CM game where 4-4-2 has worked for example. It seems like the tactics which make the best fucking patterns on the tactics screen are the ones that work the best.
The whole game has been successful because it's touted as a "realistic" football management sim but to call it realistic is a joke. Since when do managers have any say in the wages a player gets? Also, what about the so called media improvements they've promised in every iteration of the game since CM3 which has basically involved adding more phrases to the primitive two-choice "media system". Fair enough - there are levels of realism that can't be added to the game for gameplay reasons but, just now, the game is basically a case of trial and error.
I used to hang around in a CM irc channel and the SI staff would occassionally come in and they never failed to be arrogant and fucking stupid. They don't take any constructive criticism and will only listen to the millions of brown nosing bastards on their forums who don't know their fucking arse from their elbow with it comes to football.
Hopefully CM5 will prove to be a big improvement over CM4 because I hold no hope for FM05. This game could be really good if they actually made some concrete, sensible improvements and not just shitty gimmicky features which add no substance or realism to the game.
Sorry for the rant but I really hate SI and the way they have fucked the CM series!

Sorry Dryan, although I agree with your concerns about the games mechanics - the simple fact is that it's unequalled in the football management arena, so in that respect it is the most realistic.
CM5 as well, from what I've read, seen and heard will not be challenging for this title either, it seems to be taking shortcuts and streamlining the game for profits and buzzwords to an even greater extent than FM.
I know what your saying, and I agree - but considering the way the industry is driven now there isn't much choice with a game with such scope to please everyone in every little detail.
